  • Publication number: 20150304893
Abstract: The present invention provides a device and a method for logging information. The device implementing the invention is operable to attach to a first node and a second node, at least one of the first node and the second node operates within a WLAN and the other of the first node and the second node operates within a WLAN or a 3rd Generation Partnership Project, 3GPP, network. The device includes a memory and a processor. The memory includes a log, the log configured to receive at least one entry comprising an identifier for the first node and a time stamp indicating the time that the device attached to the first node. The processor acts to cause an entry to be added to the log to indicate whether an attempt by the device to attach to a second node has been successful or unsuccessful.

  • Publication number: 20150289186
Abstract: The present invention provides an entity of a Wireless Local Area Network, WLAN, such as a WLAN access point or access controller. The entity includes a processor configured to obtain load information for a cellular mobile network in response to a request for load information received from a device which is not associated with the WLAN. The entity also includes a transmitter configured to transmit the obtained load information to the device. The invention also provides a device such as a cellular phone capable of connecting to a cellular mobile network and associating with a WLAN. The device includes a transmitter, a receiver and a processor. The transmitter can transmit a request for load information about a cellular mobile network to an entity of a Wireless Local Area Network when the device is not associated with the WLAN. The receiver can receive the load information. The processor determines whether to associate with the WLAN using the load information.

  • Publication number: 20150237529
Abstract: According to a first aspect there is provided a method of enabling load steering between a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Radio Access Network (RAN) and a Wi-Fi RAN. The method comprises, at a server, generating overlap information associating one or more cells of the 3GPP RAN with one or more Access Points (AP) of the Wi-Fi RAN, wherein a cell of the 3GPP RAN is associated with an AP of the Wi-Fi RAN if it is determined that the cell overlaps with an area covered by the AP. The server then determines an off-load schedule for a cell of the 3GPP RAN, the off-load schedule indicating when an overlapping AP of the Wi-Fi RAN can reject an attempt by a user terminal to attach to the AP of the Wi-Fi RAN, and sends the off-load schedule to the Wi-Fi RAN.

  • Publication number: 20150163688
Abstract: According to the invention a core network management device (32) in a core network section (CN) of the wireless network (WN) receives a request for a tracing regarding a wireless terminal (16). The request includes an address of a destination device (26) that is to receive trace log data or data enabling the locating of the address. The core network management device (32) then automatically orders, based on the request, network elements (10, 12, 14, 20, 22, 24) of an access network section (AN) of the wireless network (WN) to perform tracing regarding the wireless terminal (16) and ensures that the trace log data is sent to the destination trace log data handling device (26). The request with the address may be sent from an access network management device (26) in the access network section (AN).

  • Publication number: 20150111503
Abstract: A method and cell controlling node providing radio communication in a first cell of a communication network, for supporting management of the communication network based on performance related reports sent to a management system. Signal measurement reports are obtained from User Equipments being served by the first cell controlling node, on measurements on signals from cell controlling nodes in neighbouring cells. Based on the measurement reports, the cell controlling node identifies a neighbouring cell from which signals fulfill a signal condition. A current identity of the identified neighbouring cell is then selected as a cell cluster identity, in order to send performance related reports to the management system indicating the cell cluster identity. Cell cluster identity can be shared by cells forming a cell cluster of a specific area, and performance related reports can be more uniform regardless of which cell controlling nodes they are received from.

  • Publication number: 20150085700
Abstract: It is presented a user equipment (20), UE for assisting a centralized initialization of a radio access node (10). The UE (20) comprises a communication interface (22) arranged for wireless communication, a processor (23) and a memory (24) for storing a software package comprising computer program code. When the software package is run in the processor (23) it causes the user equipment (20) to collect configuration data useable for the centralized initialization of the radio access node (10). The UE (20) establishes a communication link with a centralized server (50) and communicates the collected configuration data to the centralized server (50) via the established communication link. Also a corresponding centralized server (50) for assisting the centralized initialization of the radio access node is presented. Furthermore corresponding methods, computer programs and computer program products are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20140314236
Abstract: It is presented a user equipment (20), UE, for assisting the initialization of a radio base station. The UE (20) comprises a reader (21) arranged to read an optical representation of data associated with the radio base station, a communication interface (22) arranged for wireless communication; a processor (23); and a memory (24) storing computer program comprising computer program code. When the computer program code is nm in the processor (23), this causes the UE (20) to obtain a string of characters based on the read optical representation of data; generate an encryption key based on the obtained string of characters; and establish, via the communication interface (22), an encrypted wireless communication link with the radio base station using the generated encryption key; and communicate configuration data to the radio base station over the established encrypted wireless communication link. A corresponding radio base station is also presented.

  • Patent number: 8676127
Abstract: Methods for enabling provision of data to be used in a performance analysis are provided. The communication device obtains an input to set up at least one rule within the communication device to be fulfilled in order to create at least one performance management counter to count occurrences of a performance management parameter related to the communication device. The communication device sets up the at least one rule and detects an impulse. The communication device determines if the at least one rule has been fulfilled. The communication device monitors data associated to the communication device if the at least one rule has been fulfilled, and creates the at least one performance management counter to count occurrences of the at least one performance management parameter based on the monitored data. A message including a result of the at least one performance management counter is transmitted to another device.
