  • Publication number: 20080044346
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of a powder composition comprising at least 95% by weight of magnetite (Fe3O4) particles as a magnetisable component in a medium for magnetically storing information. At least 99.9% by weight of the magnetite particles have a particle size of less than 5 ?m, and the magnetite particles have a polyhedral shape and essentially isotropic magnetic properties. The magnetite particles have a saturation magnetisation of 75-95 emu/g at 10 kOe, a remanence of 20-40 emu/g and a coercivity of 250-500 Oe. The invention also relates to the medium for magnetically storing information comprising magnetite particles.

  • Patent number: 5728238
Abstract: An iron-based powder for producing impact-resistant components by powder compacting and sintering contains, in addition to Fe, 0.3-0.7% by weight of P, 0.3-3.5% by weight of Mo, and not more than 2% by weight of other alloying elements. A method of powder-metallurgically producing impact-resistant steel components comprises using an iron-based powder which, in addition to Fe, contains 0.3-0.7% by weight of P, preferably 0.35-0.65% by weight of P, 0.3-3.5% by weight of Mo, preferably 0.5-2.5% by weight of Mo, and not more than 2% by weight, preferably not more than 1% by weight, of other alloying elements; compacting the powder into the desired shape; and sintering the compact.

  • Patent number: 5703304
Abstract: The invention concerns an iron-based powder for powder-metallurgically producing components by powder compacting and sintering. The powder which essentially consists of 0.7-2.0% of Mo, 0.2-2.5% by weight of Cr and 0-3.0% by weight of Cu, 0.05-0.25% by weight of Mn and 0.3-1.0% by weight of C, wherein Fe, Mo and Mn are present as a prealloyed, water atomised FeMoMn base powder, Cr is present as FeCr, Cu is present as a metal or partially prealloyed powder and C is present as a graphite, exhibits very interesting properties. The invention also includes a method for preparing sintered components from this iron powder.

  • Patent number: 5403371
Abstract: An iron-based powder for making wear-resisting and heat-resisting components by compacting and sintering consists of, in addition to Fe, 3-15% by weight of Mo and/or 3-20% by weight of W, the total amount of Mo+W being in the range off 3-20% by weight; 0.2-1.0% by weight of P; 0.5-1.5% by weight of C. A component is powder-metallurgically made of this iron-based powder by compacting the powder into the desired shape and sintering the compact at a temperature below about 1150.degree. C.
