  • Publication number: 20250119793
Abstract: A method and transition device for enabling communication of data between a remote radio unit and a central baseband unit in a wireless network. When detecting a first interface configuration used by the remote radio unit and a second interface configuration used by the baseband unit, the transition device configures interface functions, based on the first and second interface configurations. The interface functions are selected from a set of predefined interface functions associated with different interface configurations. The transition device then establishes a data flow between the remote radio unit and the central baseband unit over the transition device, and performs conversion between the first interface configuration and the second interface configuration for data communicated in the data flow, using the selected interface functions.

  • Publication number: 20250096894
Abstract: Using a light-emitting diode, LED, (211, 221) of the wireless communication device (210, 220) as a receiver, a wireless communication device (210, 220) receives an optical reference signal from an LED (211, 221) of a further wireless communication device. Based on the optical reference signal as received by the LED (211, 221), the wireless communication device (210, 220) estimates a first channel gain of an optical channel from the LED (211, 221) of the further wireless communication device (210, 220) to the LED (211, 221) of the wireless communication device (210, 220). Based on the estimated first channel gain, the wireless communication device (210, 220) estimates a second channel gain of an optical channel from the LED (211, 221) of the wireless communication device (210, 220) to the LED (211, 221) of the further wireless communication device (210, 220).

  • Publication number: 20250048479
Abstract: Techniques are described for mitigating the negative effects of temporary loss of connectivity or temporary loss of service between a RU and a BU. In embodiments of the present disclosure, the radio unit is configured to transmit reference signals during a temporary loss of connectivity with the baseband unit to allow the UEs served by the radio unit to maintain synchronization with the radio unit and avoid or minimize radio link failures. Applying these techniques, the UEs served by the radio unit can maintain connection with the radio unit during the temporary outage and avoid the need to engage in Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling to re-establish a connection with the radio unit and/or handover to neighboring radio units.

  • Patent number: 12166664
Abstract: A method performed by a first node. The first node operates in a communications network. The first node determines, based on a header of a packet, a first number of hops. The first number of hops are the hops the packet has to traverse in the communications network to reach a second node in the communications network. The header of the packet indicates a second number of hops between the second node and a third node in the communications network in a first path. The first node obtains a wired backhaul connection to a core network of the communications network from the third node. The first node then initiates routing the packet towards the second node based on the determined first number of hops.

  • Publication number: 20240297713
Abstract: A wireless communication device (11, 100) uses at least one light emitting diode (LED) as a transmitter to send outgoing optical wireless communication signals to a further wireless communication device (11, 100). Further, using the at least one LED as a receiver, the wireless communication device (11, 100) receives incoming optical wireless communication signals from the further wireless communication device (11, 100). Based on at least some of the received incoming optical wireless communication signals, the wireless communication device (11, 100) estimates a channel characteristic for the outgoing optical wireless communication signals.

  • Patent number: 11924735
Abstract: A method, performed by a first node (111). The method is for handling access to a communications network (100) in a multi-hop deployment. The first node receives (305), from a fourth node (114), information. The information indicates a recommendation on which node within radio range to connect to, out of a plurality of candidate parent nodes (120). The plurality comprises a first set (121) and a second set (122) of candidate parent nodes. A third node (113) is enabled to be a donor node in the first set (121). A sixth node (116) is enabled to be a donor node in the second set (122). The first node also determines (307), out of the plurality, a second node (112) to establish a connection with. The determining (307) is based on the received information. The first node then initiates (308) establishment of a connection or re-connection to the network via the second node (112), as first-hop.

  • Publication number: 20240073779
Abstract: A method performed by a first network node for handling communication in a wireless communications network. The first network node receives a data packet with a header including an indicated destination, with a BAP address, and one or more values interpreted by the first network node as reserved or unknown. The first network node checks whether the first network node is an intended destination of the data packet based on the indicated destination in the header. With the proviso that the first network node is not the intended destination of the data packet and the BAP address is not included in the configured backhaul, BH, routing configuration, the first network node discards the data packet; and else, processes the data packet.

  • Publication number: 20230269644
Abstract: A source Integrated Access Backhaul, IAB, node (20) sends a handover request (110) from the source IAB node (20) to a target IAB node (30) to which a Mobile Termination, MT, (10) of an IAB node is to be migrated. The handover request (110) comprises an indication of a proxied inter donor IAB node migration of the MT (10) to the target IAB node (30). • Patent number: 11647415
Abstract: A radio network node receives a data block to be transmitted by the radio network node towards a destination node. The data block is received over an upstream wireless backhaul from an upstream radio network node and/or is to be transmitted towards the destination node over a downstream wireless backhaul to a downstream radio network node. The radio network node determines a remaining delay budget that indicates a remaining portion of a delay budget for the data block to reach the destination node.
