    Abstract: Provision is made to measure the heat of heater tubes in an external combustion engine and to control thereby as a function of changes of temperature the flow of air to the fuel burner. As the air supply increases the fuel supply is regulated. Thus as the load increases and the heater tubes cool more air and fuel is supplied to increase the heating to a desired level.

Electrical control signals are obtained by comparing a generator voltage derived from engine speed with a control voltage to develop a set of control signals including pulse width modulated pulses which are open over a duty cycle which produces the effect of analog solenoid valve control.

    Abstract: Commercial exploitation of the closed-cycle Stirling engine has been delayed because of inherent difficulties in controlling the engine output instantaneously. The disclosed invention presents a method and a device for intermittent power control of a Stirling engine by alternately connecting and disconnecting a separate dead space to the engine gas circuit. The control cycle includes a multiple of engine revolutions and is independent of the engine speed.
