  • Patent number: 7604024
Abstract: The invention concerns a yarn brake (B) comprising a brake (L) electromagnetically stressed against a fixed braking surface (17), a housing (1) whereon the cover bearing the brake (L) is mounted such that it is capable of being lifted relative to the fixed braking surface (17), and at least an adjusting arbor (S) controlling the lifting movements of the cover, said arbor being mounted on the housing (S) in geometric association to the path of the yarn (W). The invention is characterised in that the cover is a flap cover (K) mounted so as to be capable of being lifted about the adjusting arbor (S) for completely clearing the braking zone (12) of the yarn tension device (B).

  • Publication number: 20040026562
Abstract: An endless yarn braking strip for a yarn tensioning device consists of precipitation hardened stainless steel (S). The endless yarn braking strip is produced by first manufacturing an endless blank from a sheet of precipitation hardening steel, shaping the blank into a truncated cone in its endless form, and then hardening the strip by precipitation hardening.

  • Patent number: 6322016
Abstract: A yarn feeding device having a storage body defining a frontal withdrawal rim which forms a yarn braking zone of a yarn brake in co-operation with a circumferentially continuous braking band in the shape of a frustocone jacket and made of a material which is elastically deformable perpendicular to the generatrix of the frustocone. The yarn brake includes a stationary support for the braking band carrier which presses the braking band substantially axially and resiliently against the withdrawal rim. The braking band is held in a floating manner in relation to the withdrawal rim and in relation to the braking band carrier.

  • Patent number: 6164580
Abstract: A yarn feeding device having a yarn brake including a wear-proof, radially deformable and frustoconical braking band supported in a braking band carrier. The carrier is held substantially coaxially relative to the axis of a storage body of the yarn feeding device and against a circumferentially continuous withdrawal rim of the storage body. A stationary support and a spring assembly are provided, which spring assembly imparts an essentially axial pre-loading force onto the braking band carrier. The braking band carrier is centered in an axially displaceable fashion at the support by means of a universal joint having at least two mechanically and positively cooperating joint elements. The joint center of the universal joint coincides with the axis of the storage body.

  • Patent number: 6015109
Abstract: In a yarn feeder, particularly for knitting machines, having a stationary housing and a rotational element which can be driven by a motor for winding on a yarn, and having a mechanical backturn-detent mechanism for the rotational element, which mechanism contains a detent member which is displaceable on a counter-member between a running position and a blocking position, in which blocking position the detent member engages at a braking surface. The detent member underlying a permanent drag power in each rotational direction which drag power is generated by means of friction contact in case of a rotational movement of the rotational element for displacing the detent member in dependence from the sense of rotation and in relation to the counter member either into the running position or into the blocking position. The counter-member and the detent member consist of ring bodies which are set within each other and which are rotatable in relation to each other about the rotational axis of the rotational element.

  • Patent number: 5706868
Abstract: In a device for guiding and braking a yarn, a yarn brake comprises braking elements that are pressed flexibly against each other and act on the yarn in a pinch zone. The yarn brake is arranged in the yarn running path between a yarn feeder and a yarn receiver. A pneumatic threader also is provided which includes at least one air and yarn guide element that is disposed in the yarn brake and surrounds the pinch zone without contact. The air and yarn guide element comprising a receiving end, a delivery end and a guide channel provided therebetween, which is open towards the braking elements and from which the yarn is introduced into the pinch zone. The yarn is conveyed into the guide channel by means of an air flow past the pinch zone to the yarn receiver and is introduced into the pinch zone under the action of a produced drawing force.
