  • Publication number: 20240008758
Abstract: An electromagnetic receiving device configured to discriminately react predominantly to an external electric field directed along an axis of said device, comprising a high-permittivity dielectric rod as receiving element, wherein said dielectric rod is oriented along said axis and has a receiving end to be directed towards an object under study, and wherein the device is configured to be essentially resonant with a circularly cylindrical TM00 mode.

  • Patent number: 10186780
Abstract: A new and comparatively small type of open-ended microwave applicators has been disclosed. They are for example suitable for transmission into and reception from contacting objects such as protruding human bodyparts for inhomogeneity detection by tomographic methods. The applicators according to the invention are of the dielectric-filled open-ended ridged rectangular TE10 type, with an insert filling the ridge and having a higher permittivity than the surrounding space. The shape of the insert can be as a frustrum pyramid towards the opening. The overall design promotes narrow beamwidths and minimizes nearfields and surface wave excitation.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: January 22, 2019
Inventors: Per Olov Risman, Magnus Otterskog, Nikola Petrovic

  • Publication number: 20090166354
Abstract: A new, comparatively small type of microwave system based on open-ended applicators is disclosed. The applicator according to the invention uses a main evanescent and a propagating mode in combination, where the combination results in a cancellation of the horizontal magnetic fields at the ends of at least two opposing walls. The effect of this is that the fields propagating out of the applicator become concentrated to the applicator centreline (axis) region, provides an efficient heating of a load or assembly of loads, as well as a stable impedance matching of the system under variable loading conditions due to the mode evanescence, while not leaking energy between adjacent applicators. The applicator can also be used for direct feeding of an underlying small closed metal cavity, for providing (the same favourable) mode conditions to a load in this cavity.

  • Patent number: 6333496
Abstract: A device and a method for microwave feeding of an oven cavity by means of a coupling slot (1) which is fed by a waveguide. The a-dimension of the waveguide is significantly larger than the effective a-dimension of the slot. The slot comprised a radiating main slot part (5) and slot extensions (6,7) projecting from it at its respective sides, which extension have a substantially smaller cross-dimension than the b-dimension of the main slot part.
