  • Patent number: 5183376
Abstract: An arrangement for the transportation of a heavy package of a vessel to a quay or similar loading location uses a first apparatus for transportation of the package in a vertical direction and a second apparatus for transportation in a horizontal direction. A support member in which the package is placed is alternately raised and lowered by a set of lifting devices. The support member and a support element are also supported separately and alternately on a foundation via climbing arrangements. The support member and support element are moved in a stepwise lifting movement or in a stepwise lowering movement.

  • Patent number: 5103753
Abstract: A cargo ship is provided with transverse bulkheads to separate holds from each other. In addition, the bulkheads are arranged in pairs to define compartments therebetween in which flights of steps are arranged. Access openings are also provided in the transversely extending bulkheads to provide access to the steps at various levels. Each flight of steps is contained between two partitions which form a passage within the compartment. A hatch cover is provided at the top to gain access to the passage.

  • Patent number: 4990045
Abstract: An arrangement for unloading bulk material from the hold (12) of a freighter (11) which includes a hatch cover (25) in combination with a lifting screw (14) or similar unloading means which is lowered down into the hold (12) via the associated loading hatch (13). The hatch cover (25), which is adapted to rest on a coaming (26) on loading hatch (13) of the freighter (11) via an annular cover frame (34), is provided with a cover portion (31) pivotably mounted about a vertical axis (31a) having a vertical through-going guide (30) for the reception of the unloading means (14) for swinging of the same in a path forwards and backwards from one side portion of the hatch cover to the middle of the hatch. The cover portion (31) is allowed to turn in the cover frame (34) with corresponding movement of the unloading means (14).

  • Patent number: 4609309
Abstract: A process for the transport of powdered or particulate material from a container, such as a tank of a ship, via its upper opening to a separately disposed delivery location. The transport occurs with a transport apparatus which is provided with a feed head (31) for the detachment and feeding of material to the transport apparatus at its material intake end. The feed head pushes the material laterally inwards into the lower end of an upwardly directed transport pipe (30) just above an upwardly directd air current for fluidizing of the material gradually as it is pushed into the transport pipe and for transport of the material in the height direction through the transport pipe in a fluidized condition. The feed head is preferably provided with two diameterially opposite material feed openings for pushing the material from opposite directions towards the central axis of the transport pipe.
