Abstract: The present invention relates to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of pathophysiological conditions associated with amyloid accumulation. Bifunctional therapeutic molecules and contrast imaging agents exhibiting a high affinity for amyloid deposits, and pharmaceutical compositions thereof are described. The invention also provides methods of using these bifunctional molecules, contrast imaging agents, and pharmaceutical compositions for detecting the presence of amyloid deposits using imaging techniques; and for preventing or treating amyloid-related conditions, such as, for example, Alzheimer's disease.
