    Abstract: An electrolyzer system comprises electrolyzer elements (101) each comprising an electrolyzer stack (104) constituted by electrolysis cells. Furthermore, each electrolyzer element comprises a water inlet (106), a hydrogen separator tank (107) having a hydrogen outlet (108), an oxygen separator tank (109) having an oxygen outlet (110), and a channel system (111) for conducting electrolyte from the hydrogen separator tank and from the oxygen separator tank to the electrolyzer stack. The electrolyzer stacks of the electrolyzer elements are electrically connected to each other so that direct voltage of the electrolyzer system is a sum of direct voltages of the electrolyzer stacks of two or more of the electrolyzer elements. The water inlets, the hydrogen outlets, and the oxygen outlets of different ones of the electrolyzer elements are galvanically separated from each other. This enables the direct voltage of the electrolyzer system to have a desired value with low stray electric currents.

    Abstract: An electrode for fuel cells includes several consecutive layers of electrically conductive porous material. The consecutive layers include recesses which form sections of flow channels. Within the individual layers, however, the channels are not continuous. When the consecutive layers are combined, the channel sections of the various layers, which are disposed in such a way that there are overlaps between them, complement one another to form a complete fluid-distributor structure. A distribution of fluid also takes place in the thickness direction of the electrode by virtue of the fact that the flow channels pass over repeatedly from one layer into the other, besides the distribution of fluid in a plane. A composite structural unit for fuel cells and a polymer-electrolyte-membrane fuel cell, are also provided.

    Abstract: A cooling plate module for fuel cell stacks contains an anode-side terminal plate and a cathode-side terminal plate, whose mutually facing surfaces functioning as cooling surfaces tightly enclose a coolant distribution structure and are joined to one another by a bonding agent. The bonding agent is applied to the cooling surfaces exclusively outside the coolant distribution structure surrounded by a seal, so that the bonding agent and coolant do not contact one another. Since the current transport between the terminal plates takes place principally via contact elements disposed in the coolant structure, it is not necessary for the bonding agent to be electrically conducting.
