    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for processing data in connection with a portable terminal. In the method, a memory that is external of the terminal is used for storing groups of data, and at least one attribute is determined for said groups of data. Data is stored in the storage of the portable terminal, and at least one group of data can be processed in the portable terminal. In the method, at least one group of data stored in the external memory is selected, and at least one attribute of the selected at least one group of data is transmitted to the portable terminal. The attribute is stored in the portable terminal, wherein when the portable terminal is to process data from the at least one group of data, at least a part of the data from the at least one group of data is transmitted to the storage memory of the portable terminal.
