The electronic key thus is designed to properly contact the fixed data contact associated with the lock set for proper operation. The present invention provides a construction which facilitates making the contact, and yet provides a durable and simple construction for the electronic key.

To prevent rotation of the key cylinder and loading of the solenoid plunger prior to the solenoid receiving an authorized signal to retract the plunger, a stop mechanism is provided which only allows rotation of the key cylinder in predetermined coordination with operation of the solenoid.

The invention is directed to a cylinder type locking mechanism wherein a solenoid and plunger is provided to electronically lock and unlock a key cylinder, thereby allowing rotation of the key cylinder for unlocking of a locking mechanism when a suitably programmed electronic key is used in connection with the mechanism. A side bar and retaining spring engage the cylinder plug to prevent rotation thereof in the locked position with the side bar contacted by the plunger of the solenoid to prevent the side bar from moving until an authorized key is used to unlock the mechanism.

The locker lock includes a bolt that can retract into the case of the lock, fully extended from the case to function as a dead bolt, and partially extended from the case to function as a spring loaded automatic bolt. A plunger associated with the bolt is used to release the bolt from the partially to the fully extended position, and a single trigger associated with the bolt is used to hold the bolt in the partially extended position and the fully extended position.

    Abstract: An automatic door latch has a case and a bolt movable within the case between a fully extended position in which the bolt extends forwardly of the case and a partially extended position in which the bolt is positioned to contact a door strike. There is a plunger mounted on the bolt, with the bolt and plunger being relatively movable. A spring biases the bolt toward a fully extended position and a spring biases the plunger outwardly of the case. The plunger has a projection which limits outward movement of the plunger to a position in which its extension is the same as that of the bolt when it is in its partially extended position. There is a stop on the bolt movable toward and away from the case and there are projections on the case which coact with the bolt stop to limit bolt extension to its partially extended position.

    Abstract: An interconnected lock assembly for use on a door includes a latch mechanism for positioning in a first bore in a door. There is an outside operating member connected to the latch mechanism for causing operation thereof and there is an inside operating member connected to the latch mechanism for causing operation thereof. A deadbolt mechanism is mounted in a second bore in the door, which second bore is spaced from the first bore. The deadbolt mechanism has a deadbolt which is automatically movable to an extended position when a portion of the deadbolt mechanism contacts a door strike. The deadbolt mechanism includes a swivel and there is a spindle in engagement with the swivel for retracting the deadbolt. An interconnected assembly connects the inside operating member and the spindle whereby movement of the inside operating member both operates the latch mechanism and moves the deadbolt to a retracted position.
