Patent number: 9094533Abstract: Systems, methods and interfaces are disclosed for managing communications associated with a mobile communication device. Mobile communication devices process environmental inputs and transmit mobile communication device context information to a communication management system. The context information may, for example, reflect the motion and/or geographic location of the mobile device, and may reflect the risk associated with using the device to handle a call or other communications session. The communication management system uses the context information, optionally in combination with communication device profiles, to determine how to manage incoming and/or ongoing calls or other communication sessions. Mobile device users may also be inhibited from initiating communication sessions.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2012Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: Aegis Mobility, Inc.Inventors: John J. Geyer, Peter A. Featherstone, Andrew S. Wright, Mandy Chan, Stephen J. Williams

Publication number: 20150147973Abstract: Systems and methods are provided enabling context information, such as a current speed of travel, to be transmitted between a context source, such as a vehicle, and a mobile device. Illustratively, the mobile device may be configured to utilize context information to enforce context-based restrictions on the mobile device, such as to restrict non-emergency functionality of the device when travelling above a threshold speed. Specifically, embodiments of the present application enable context information to be encoded within service data, and transmitted to the mobile device without requiring an established connection (e.g., a “pairing”) between the mobile device and the context source. For example, specific context information may be encoded into a service identifier, and transmitted within a service record to the mobile device. The mobile device may then decode the context information from the service identifier to determine a context, e.g., for use in context-based policy enforcement.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2014Publication date: May 28, 2015Inventors: Stephen J. Williams, Peter Featherstone

Publication number: 20140199987Abstract: Systems, methods and interfaces are disclosed for managing communications associated with a mobile device. Mobile devices process environmental inputs and transmit context information to a communication management system. The context information may, for example, reflect the motion and/or geographic location of the mobile device, and may reflect the risk associated with using the device to handle a call or other communications session. A management system uses the context information, optionally in combination with communication device profiles, to determine how to manage requests for communication with the mobile device. Mobile device users may also be inhibited from initiating communications.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 20, 2014Publication date: July 17, 2014Applicant: Aegis Mobility, Inc.Inventors: Andrew S. Publication number: 20130294340Abstract: A communication environment includes of one or more subscriber terminals capable of receiving and transmitting data over a communication network via a communication management system. The communication management system receives mobile communication device context information and mobile communication device identification information from the mobile communication device. The communication management system then identifies data availability profiles reflective of a prior determination of mobile communication device availability to receive data communications according to context. The communication management system then implements data filtering rules corresponding to a current data availability profile.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2013Publication date: November 7, 2013Inventors: Stephen Williams, Andrew S.
