Patent number: 12178295Abstract: A magnetic buckle includes first and second buckle members. The first buckle member includes a first end and a second end adapted to engage a strap, a mounting surface, a latching aperture defined in the mounting surface, and a first magnet. A release direction extends along a longitudinal axis of the first buckle member from the first end to the second end. The second buckle member includes a joining surface adapted to be joined with the mounting surface, a latch hook adapted to engage the latching aperture extending from the joining surface, and a second magnet. The magnets pull the latch hook into engagement with the latching aperture when the joining surface is placed in proximity to the mounting surface. Engagement of the latching aperture by the latch hook prevents the second buckle member from being pulled apart from the first buckle member in a direction orthogonal to the mounting surface or against the release direction.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2022Date of Patent: December 31, 2024Assignee: Groove Life CorporationInventors: Peter Goodwin, George Brooks, Cody Hutchins, Salmon Nortje

Publication number: 20240373962Abstract: In some implementations, a belt includes a buckle and a strap securable in a loop by the buckle. The strap may include a first outer layer and a second outer layer, a mounting plate secured between the first outer layer and the second outer layer, and a translating buckle mount coupled to the mounting plate. The translating buckle mount may be configured to releasably mount the buckle and to elastically translate back and forth within the mounting plate so that the buckle is movable within the strap relative to the first and second outer layers to vary the circumference of the belt when the belt is worn around a waist of a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2024Publication date: November 14, 2024Applicant: Groove Life CorporationInventors: Peter Goodwin, Salmon Nortje, Graham Harrison, Cody Hutchins

Patent number: 12104891Abstract: A system for measuring a target grating includes an illumination source, a reference transmission grating, a pupil filter, and a detector. The illumination source is disposed to generate an incident light beam that illuminates the reference transmission grating. The reference transmission grating splits the incident light beam into a plurality of diffraction orders. The plurality of diffraction orders interrogates a target grating. The reference transmission grating and the target grating are parallel. The pupil filter allows transmission of a subset of diffraction orders of light that has been diffracted and/or reflected from the target grating after being split again by passing through the reference transmission grating. The detector takes a measurement of the subset of diffraction orders of light after transmission through the pupil filter.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2020Date of Patent: October 1, 2024Inventors: Daniel Gene Smith, Goldie Lynne Goldstein, Hidemitsu Toba, Shunsuke Kibayashi, Katsura Otaki, Eric Peter Goodwin

Publication number: 20230392922Abstract: Detectors are situated along a tilted optical axis to receive optical radiation from a work surface. Variations in the received optical power are used to estimate a work surface positional along a work surface axis. The received optical power can be emitted from the work surface and an estimated temperature of the work surface used to adjust the received optical power. Publication number: 20220252392Abstract: 3D metrology techniques are disclosed for determining a changing topography of a substrate processed in an additive manufacturing system. Techniques include fringe scanning, simultaneous fringe projections, interferometry, and x-ray imaging. The techniques can be applied to 3D printing systems to enable rapid topographical measurements of a 3D printer powder bed, or other rapidly moving, nearly continuous surface to be tested. The techniques act in parallel to the system being measured to provide information about system operation and the topography of the product being processed. A tool is provided for achieving higher precision, increasing throughput, and reducing the cost of operation through early detection and diagnosis of operating problems and printing defects. These techniques work well with any powder bed 3D printing system, providing real-time metrology of the powder bed, the most recently printed layer, or both without reducing throughput.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2020Publication date: August 11, 2022Applicant: Nikon CorporationInventors: Eric Peter Goodwin, Heather Lynn Durko, Daniel Gene Smith, Johnathan Agustin Marquez, Michael Birk Binnard, Patrick Shih Chang, Matthew Parker-McCormick Bjork, Paul Derek Coon, Brett William Herr, Motofusa Ishikawa
