    Abstract: Protective head gear includes an exterior layer configured to cover at least a portion of a person's head, and an energy absorbing layer adjacent to at least a portion of the exterior layer for absorbing at least a portion of an impact force upon the exterior layer. At least a portion of the energy absorbing layer may include a compliant foam material and a frangible glass foam material. The frangible material may be enclosed in a container. The protective head gear may additionally include an interior layer adjacent at least a portion of the energy absorbing layer. The interior layer may comprise compliant foam or fabric.

    Abstract: LED light assemblies (20) are spaced over a geographical territory defined by a central dispatch of public service personnel operating in the geographical territory and are controlled by transmitting digital packets on a first radio frequency reserved for public safety personnel from a central transceiver (24) to repeaters (26) in the geographical territory and re-transmitting the digital packets on a different second frequency reserved for public safety personnel from the repeaters (26) to the light assemblies (20). In turn, the light assemblies (20) transmit digital radio signals on frequencies reserved for public safety personnel to the repeaters (26) for re-transmission to the central transceiver (24). A plurality of emergency signaling devices (36) transmit digital radio signals on the channels of frequencies reserved for public safety personnel to the light assemblies (20) to transmit a radio signal on the reserved frequencies to the central transceiver (24), a 9-1-1 alert or the like.

LED electrical leads (32) are secured to the spaced lengths (42) of the circuit (40) to electrically interconnect the light emitting diodes (26). The circuit (40) includes a foil tape (46) having an electrically conductive tape portion (48) and a coupling portion (50) disposed on the tape portion (48) for securing the foil tape (46) to the insulated substrate (22).

A non-reflective film (52) comprising a black color is painted over the exterior surface and a reflective material (54) is disposed over an interior surface of each light shield (40). The light shields (40) comprise sections (44) defined by a triangular shape joining at a ridge (48) and extending upwardly from the mounting surface (14) at an angle to define an opening for emitting light. The light shields (40) are spaced from the L.E.D.s at desired locations and angles to achieve full cutoff light emissions.

An insulating layer 54 is disposed on the heat spreader 24 and a circuit 62 including a ribbon 64 extends continuously along the insulating layer 54 between the light emitting diodes 26. A conformal coating 70 is disposed over the circuit 62 so that the heat sink 22, conformal coating 70, the ribbon 64, the insulating layer 54, and the heat spreader 24 are sandwiched together. A reflector 72 is disposed around each of the light emitting diodes 26 for reflecting the light in a predetermined direction.

Each section (14) includes walls (24, 26) extending transversely from the mounting surface (20) to define an open container. Each section (14) includes first fins (32) extending outwardly from the walls (24, 26) and extending toward the first fins (32) of an adjacent section (14). In one embodiment, the sections (14) can be cantilevered to a planar surface (38) extending longitudinally across an end wall (24) of each section (14). In a second embodiment, the sections (14) can be interconnected by bridges (42) and then vertically mounted to a wall with a mounting bracket (44). The sections (14) can include second fins (34) extending from a heat transfer surface (22) facing opposite the mounting surface (20). The second fins (34) are disposed between the heat transfer surface (22) and the mounting bracket (44).
