Patent number: 11950967Abstract: A system for planning and performing a repeat interventional procedure is provided which includes a registration device and an image generation device which map current targets in a reference image for a first interventional procedure to at least one guidance image acquired from a different imaging modality. Biopsy locations are recorded to the guidance images during the first interventional procedure and the biopsy locations are mapped to the reference image to provide a planning image for use in a subsequent interventional procedure on the patient. In a subsequent interventional procedure, the prior planning image (124) may be registered to a current reference image and the prior biopsy locations and prior and current targets are mapped to a guidance image acquired from a different imaging modality. Biopsy locations are then mapped to the guidance image and mapped back to the current reference image.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignees: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V., THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA, as Represented by the Secreatary, Dept. of Health and Human ServicesInventors: Jochen Kruecker, Pingkun Yan, Amir Mohammad Tahmasebi Maraghoosh, Peter A Pinto, Bradford Johns Wood

Patent number: 11464570Abstract: A system and method for planning and performing an interventional procedure based on the spatial relationships between identified points. The system includes a storage device (102) having an image (104) which includes a plurality of targets (107). A spatial determination device (114) is configured to determine distances and/or orientation between each of the targets. The system is configured to compare the distances and generate a warning signal if at least one of the distances is less than a minimum threshold (128). An image generation device (116) is configured to generate a graphical representation for display to the user which shows the spatial information between a selected target with respect to the other targets. A planning device (126) is configured to modify or consolidate targets automatically or based on a user's input in order to more effectively plan or execute an interventional procedure.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2017Date of Patent: October 11, 2022Assignees: KONINKLUKE PHILIPS N.V., THE UNITED STATES of AMERICA, as Represented by the Secreatary, Dept. of Health and Human ServicesInventors: Pingkun Yan, Peter A Pinto, Jochen Kruecker, Bradford Johns Wood

Patent number: 11051902Abstract: A system for planning and performing a repeat interventional procedure includes a registration device (116) and an image generation device (120) which map current targets in a reference image (104) for a first interventional procedure to at least one guidance image (112) acquired from a different imaging modality. Biopsy locations are recorded to the guidance images during the first interventional procedure and the biopsy locations are mapped to the reference image to provide a planning image for use in a subsequent interventional procedure on the patient. In a subsequent interventional procedure, the prior planning image (124) may be registered to a current reference image (126) and the prior biopsy locations and prior and current targets are mapped to a guidance image acquired from a different imaging modality. Biopsy locations are then mapped to the guidance image (115) and mapped back to the current reference image.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 2016Date of Patent: July 6, 2021Assignees: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V., THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, as represented by the SECRETARY, DEPT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICESInventors: Jochen Kruecker, Pingkun Yan, Amir Mohammad Tahmasebi Maraghoosh, Peter A Pinto, Bradford Johns Wood

Patent number: 10215830Abstract: Methods and systems for diagnosing cancer in the prostate and other organs are disclosed. Exemplary methods comprises extracting texture information from MRI imaging data for a target organ, sometimes using two or more different imaging modalities. Texture features are determined that are indicative of cancer by identifying frequent texture patterns. A classification model is generated based on the determined texture features that are indicative of cancer, and diagnostic cancer prediction information for the target organ is then generated to help diagnose cancer in the organ.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2015Date of Patent: February 26, 2019Assignee: The United States of America, as represented by the Secretary, Department of Health and Human ServicesInventors: Jin Tae Kwak, Bradford J. Wood, Sheng Xu, Baris Turkbey, Peter L. Choyke, Peter A. Pinto, Ronald M. Summers

Patent number: 8447384Abstract: A method and system for performing biopsies can include an imaging system for obtaining diagnostic images of a target region; a tracking system; a probe having a deployable biopsy needle for performing a biopsy procedure where the tracking system generates tracking information for at least one of the probe and the biopsy needle; an ultrasound imaging system for obtaining ultrasound imaging of the target region; and a computer in communication with the tracking system, the imaging system and the ultrasound imaging system. The computer can register the tracking system with the imaging system. The computer transfers a marking of a biopsy site associated with the biopsy procedure from the ultrasound imaging to the diagnostic images based on the tracking information and the registration of the tracking system with the diagnostic images.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2009Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Sheng Xu, Jochen Kruecker, Guy Shechter, Ian Farmer, Peter Lyle Choyke, Peter Pinto, Bradford J.
