Publication number: 20230282240Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device can guide a user of the computing device through creation of media content using storyboard templates. For example, the user may invoke a media editing application on the computing device. The media editing application can be configured with a plurality of different storyboard templates to be used for the creation of different types or categories of content. A storyboard template corresponding to a particular type of content can include suggested media segments and suggested media clips for the particular type, or topic, of content. Thus, a particular storyboard template can include suggested media segments and suggested media clips that are different from other storyboard templates. The media editing application can include features that allow the user to edit the storyboard template and/or the media content corresponding to a storyboard project created by the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2022Publication date: September 7, 2023Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Daniel J. Patent number: 10990250Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a GUI for a media editing application that provides visual cues (e.g., colors and/or lane sets) for media clips that are assigned different tags (or roles) in a media presentation. The GUI of the media application of some embodiments displays media clips of a composite media presentation, in which at least some of the media clips are associated with tags. The GUI also provides GUI controls for associating media clips associated with different tags with different colors and for displaying the media clips based on the clips' associated color. In some embodiments, the GUI includes a tool for arranging clips into groups based on assigned tags. The tool of some embodiments, upon selection, defines a set of lanes for each tag and displays any anchored clip that is associated with a tag in the set of lanes associated with the tag.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2019Date of Patent: April 27, 2021Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Colleen Pendergast, Brian E. Meaney, David E. Conry, David N. Chen, Itrat U. Khan, Jack S. Yi, Jacqueline Chang, Jeffery Morse, Jordan P. McCommons, Joshua C. Hoover, Ken Matsuda, Nils Angquist, Stephen A. Bayes, William J. Patent number: 8769421Abstract: Some embodiments provide a computer readable medium storing a media editing application for creating multimedia presentations. The application includes a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI includes a composite display area for displaying a portion of a timeline to which multimedia clips are assigned to create a composite media presentation. The timeline is divided into user-defined segments. The GUI includes an outline window for displaying a list of selectable items representing the user-defined segments, the selectable items for use in applying various operations to the user-modifiable segments. In some embodiments, the various operations include operations to insert a new segment into the timeline, to merge at least two segments into one segment, to hide a particular segment from view, to focus on a particular segment or group of segments in the composite display area, as well as other operations.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2009Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Brian Meaney, Melissa Breglio, Mike Stern, Jerremy Holland, Dave Cerf, Colleen Pendergast, Peter A. Steinauer, Michaelle Stikich, Charles Lyons
