    Abstract: Methods and systems for connection management are disclosed. An access point may receive uplink frames from a mobile device. The access point may utilize the uplink frames to determine a variation in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) associated with the mobile device. If the variation in SNR indicates that the mobile device is transient and the mobile device has not already joined a network, the access point may prevent the mobile device from joining the network. If the variation in SNR indicates that the mobile device is transient and the mobile device has already joined the network, the access point may force the mobile device to disconnect from the network.
