Publication number: 20240108844Abstract: A humidification system can include a heater base, a humidification chamber, and a breathing circuit. A cartridge can be removably coupled to the heater base. The cartridge can include various sensors, probes, sensor wire connectors, heater wire connectors, and/or other features. The cartridge can include features configured to mate with corresponding features on the humidification chamber and the heater base. The cartridge includes a memory, such as an EEPROM, or other suitable storage device. When the cartridge is installed on the heater base, the memory is electrically connected to a processor and/or memory of the heater base. Various models of cartridges can be produced for use with different humidification chambers, breathing circuits, and/or therapies. A connector can be configured to couple an inspiratory conduit to an outlet port of the humidification chamber. The connector can provide a pneumatic connection to the outlet port and an electrical connection to the cartridge.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2023Publication date: April 4, 2024Inventors: Hamish Adrian OSBORNE, Gavin Walsh Millar, Stephen David Evans, Bruce Gordon Holyoake, James William Stanton, David Leon McCauley, Gareth Thomas McDermott, Nicholas James Michael McKenna, Myfanwy Jane Antica Norton, Adrian John Elsworth, Michael John Andresen, Jonathan Andrew George Lambert, Sandeep Singh Gurm, Tessa Hazel Paris, Joseph Nathaniel Griffiths, Ping Si, Christopher Gareth Sims, Elmo Benson Stoks, Dexter Chi Lun Cheung, Peter Alan Seekup, Po-Yen Liu, Richard Edward Lang, Paul James Tonkin, Ian Lee Wai Kwan

Patent number: 8997737Abstract: An inhaler is disclosed. It comprises a housing to receive a strip of blisters each having a puncturable lid and containing a dose of medicament for inhalation by a user, a mouthpiece through which a dose of medicament is inhaled by a user and, an actuator operable to sequentially move each blister into alignment with a blister piercing member. The actuator is also operable to cause the blister piercing element to puncture the lid of a blister such that, when a user inhales through the mouthpiece, an airflow through the blister is generated to entrain the dose contained therein and carry it out of the blister and via the mouthpiece into the user's airway.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2013Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Vectura Delivery Devices LimitedInventors: Stephen William Eason, Roger William Clarke, Quentin Harmer, Peter Alan Evans, David Gregory Ahern

Patent number: 7950389Abstract: An inhaler (1) is disclosed. It comprises a housing (2) to receive a strip (6) of blisters (6a) each having a puncturable lid (6c) and containing a dose of medicament for inhalation by a user, a mouthpiece through which a dose of medicament is inhaled by a user and, an actuator (3) operable to sequentially move each blister into alignment with a blister piercing member (7, 9). The actuator is also operable to cause the blister piercing element to puncture the lid of a blister such that, when a user inhales through the mouthpiece, an airflow through the blister is generated to entrain the dose contained therein and carry it but of the blister and via the mouthpiece into the user's airway.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2004Date of Patent: May 31, 2011Assignee: Vectura Delivery Devices LimitedInventors: Stephen William Eason, Roger William Clarke, Quentin Harmer, Peter Alan Evans, David Gregory Ahern

Publication number: 20080135441Abstract: A blister pack comprising a plurality of spaced blister cavities each configured to receive and store an individual dose of medicament for inhalation by a user is disclosed. The pack includes a foil layer and an outer polymer layer and each blister cavity, or a number of blister cavities, are separated from an adjacent blister cavity, or number of adjacent blister cavities, by a region of weakness formed by substantially removing or displacing a portion of the outer polymer layer from the foil layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 13, 2006Publication date: June 12, 2008Applicant: Vectura Group PLCInventors: Andreas Mark Meliniotis, Peter Alan Evans, Stephen William Eason, Quentin John Harmer

Patent number: 7032594Abstract: An inhaler for dispensing medicament in the form of a dry powder is powder is provided with an airway (50) through which a dose travels from an ejection zone to an outlet of the airway. The airway (50) has an inlet means which is so arranged as to create a jacket of air, flowing through a part of the airway extending from the ejection zone to the outlet. The jacket of air surrounds said dose and thereby prevents it form impinging on the airway walls. This reduces accumulation of material on the airway walls, and thus improves the consistency of performance of the inhaler. Preferably, the inlet means includes a throat for producing a stream of fast flowing air which creates a zone of low pressure in front of the ejection zone, thereby to facilitate ejection of a dose.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2001Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Assignee: Merck Patent GmbHInventors: Michael Edgar Newton, Simon James Smith, Dominic Charles Reber, Roger William Clarke, Peter Alan Evans
