  • Patent number: 9705393
Abstract: A method of operating a voltage regulator including a source voltage rail and a plurality of output voltage rails, the method including: converting a source voltage on the source voltage rail to a respective output voltage on each output voltage rail; selecting an output voltage rail; comparing the output voltage on the selected output voltage rail to a reference voltage for the selected output voltage rail; and if the output voltage of the selected output voltage rail is less than the reference voltage for the selected output voltage rail, controlling the voltage regulator to increase the output voltage on the selected output voltage rail, wherein the frequency at which an output voltage rail is selected is dependent upon the rate at which the voltage regulator has previously increased the output voltage on that output voltage rail.

  • Publication number: 20170175568
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method for cleaning gas turbine engine components using an acoustic emitter. More specifically, in one embodiment, the method includes positioning the acoustic emitter at a cleaning location of a component of the gas turbine engine. For example, the cleaning location is typically characterized by having a build-up of foulants on a surface thereof. Thus, the method includes emitting, via the acoustic emitter, acoustic waves at a predetermined frequency towards the cleaning location of the component so as to disperse the foulants.

  • Publication number: 20170164164
Abstract: In implementations of creating a communication group, a mobile device can receive a selection to enable communication of location information between devices that correspond to entities from a group of entities associated with a user of the mobile device. The mobile device can receive location information that describes a physical location or proximity of the devices that correspond to the entities, and present in a user interface on a display device, a visual representation that indicates at least one of the entities is at a location within a pre-set distance of the mobile device. A communication group can be created that includes the entities selected from the group of entities associated with the user of the mobile device. The mobile device can also communicate the location information of the mobile device to all of the devices that correspond to the entities as a group communication based on the communication group.

  • Patent number: 9665249
Abstract: A computing device can be controlled based on changes in the angle of a user's head with respect to the device, such as due to the user tilting the device and/or the user tilting his head with respect to the device. Such control based on the angle of the user's head can be achieved even when the user is operating the device “off-axis” or when the device is not orthogonal and/or not centered with respect to the user. This can be accomplished by using an elastic reference point that dynamically adjusts to a detected angle of the user's head with respect to the device. Such an approach can account for differences between when the user is changing his natural resting position and/or the resting position of the device and when the user is intending to perform a gesture based on the angle of the user's head relative to the device.

  • Patent number: 9661757
Abstract: An assembler receives a circuit board. The circuit board includes at least a first node and a second node that are adjacent but electrically isolated from each other. There is a gap between the first node and the second node. The first node is electrically isolated from other components on the circuit board. The second node is electrically coupled to circuitry residing on the circuit board. The assembler initiates positioning of a conductive lead of a battery in a vicinity of the first node. The gap between the first node and second node initially prevents the live conductive lead from being in electrical contact with the second node. Eventually, the assembler bridges the gap to provide an electrical connection between at least the conductive lead and the second node to electrically couple the conductive lead to the second node and thus the circuitry residing on the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 9648113
Abstract: Applications in a broadcast environment distribute events in real-time to a large number of receivers within specified geographic locations while efficiently sharing bandwidth resources with other applications using the same broadcast network. Applications need not be aware of the other applications sharing the resources, nor of the methods, protocols, and other mechanisms used to actually broadcast the data over the broadcast medium. Server-side applications that serve data, send notifications, or distribute events to specific locations within the network use a broadcast location manager. Client applications that receive such data, notifications, or events use a client location filter to obtain events that are relevant based on the location of the device. The broadcast location manager and client location filter work together to reliably and efficiently transmit data, notifications, and events to specific locations over the broadcast network for all applications involved.
