Abstract: A beverage container (1) comprises a container body (3) including an opening, a cap (5) to close the opening, and a collar (7), mountable on the container body (3). The cap (5) and the collar (7) include cooperating securement means (19, 21) by which the cap (5) may be secured to the collar (7), thereby securing the cap (5) to the container body (3) when the collar (7) is mounted on the container body (3). The cap (5), the collar (7) and the container body (3) are configured such that removal of the cap (5) from the container body (3) causes removal of the collar (7) from the container body (3).

Abstract: The apparatus comprises a base portion (2) and at least two arms (1) resiliently cantilevered from the base portion (2), the inner ends of the arms (1) forming a button-like member (4) and each having a projection (4A) for engaging on the outwardly facing surface of a compact disk (10) held on the apparatus. Depression of the button-like member (4) causes the projections (4A) to move towards each other until their engagement on the disk (10) is released. An upstand (6) surrounds the disk (10) and is positioned close thereto so as to restrict movement of the disk (10) within its own plane. The inner ends (4) of the arms (1) may be shaped to reduce the risk of forces applied thereto in the plane of the disk (10) causing the disk (10) to be released. Finger recesses (6A) in the upstand may be formed so as to inhibit access to the edge of a disk (10) whilst held by the apparatus but provide access thereto once the disk (10) has been released. 3-arm release mechanisms are also described.

Abstract: A hand-held device (2) for applying a barrier material (4, 6) to a lock of hair to be treated with a highlighting composition (32) is disclosed. The device may comprise one or two rolls (8, 10) of a tape of barrier material (4, 6) that is dispensed to the lock of hair as the same time as the roll or rolls (8, 10) are unrolled. The device may also contain the highlighting composition (32), either applied on the rolled tape or via a reservoir contained in the body.

Abstract: A beverage container comprising a container body (3) including an opening and a plurality of recesses (80) in an exterior surface thereof, a cap (5) for closing the opening, and a collar (73) having a plurality of flaps (13) engagement with the recesses (80) to mount the collar (73) on the container body (3), the cap (5) and the collar (73) being connected to each other by a screw thread such that when secured together the collar (73) and hence the cap (5) is secured to the container body (3).

Abstract: Apparatus for holding information storage media such as a disk (4) having an aperture therein, the apparatus comprising: a base portion (2) and engaging means for releasably engaging the information storage media via said aperture, the engaging means comprising: at least one arm (1) resiliently cantilevered to the base portion (2), retaining means (5) for engaging and retaining the information storage media (4) on the apparatus, and release means (3A, 3B) depression of which releases engagement between the retaining means (5) and the information storage media (2), locating means (7) being provided for receiving a security member (6) as it is inserted beneath the engaging means in a first direction parallel to the base portion (2) so as to inhibit operation of the release means (3A, 3B), the locating means (7) being arranged to locate the security member (6) laterally as it is inserted beneath the engaging means.

Abstract: A container having lid and base portions (1,2) which are moveable between open and closed positions and a locking mechanism comprising: a holding bar (3) within the container moveable between a release position and a holding position in which it prevents the container being opened and a security device (4) which is insertable in the container so as to move the holding member (3) into the holding position and which is secured in this position by a locking device until released by application of a key or release apparatus.

Abstract: Apparatus (19) for holding information storage media, such as a CD or DVD, in combination with a releasable security member (8) insertable into the apparatus for inhibiting removal of the storage media from the apparatus, e.g. by inhibiting access to the storage media by locking the apparatus in a closed configuration and/or by locking the storage media to the apparatus. The apparatus is adapted, e.g. by knowing one or more slots (12, 24) therein, to receive part of the security member therein and the security has at least one projection (9A, 10A) for inserting into the apparatus, e.g. through the slot (12, 24). Modification t the apparatus to enable it to receive a security member are described as well as different types of security members. Apparatus for releasing the security member from the apparatus holding the storage media is also described.

Abstract: A container comprises first and second parts that are hinged with respect to each other about a pivot axis such that they may be rotated between open and closed configurations of the container. The first and second parts include respective first and second mutually engageable features arranged on or adjacent to the pivot axis such that when the container is in its closed configuration the first and second parts are substantially prevented from being prised apart along the pivot axis. The container may be for securely housing goods for display in a retail store.

Abstract: A method for controlling a drive (16) of a motor vehicle having an internal combustion engine (10) and an electric motor (24). A main transmission (16) having an output shaft (18) is connected to a driveshaft (19) of the motor vehicle, and an input shaft (14) is connected to the internal combustion engine (10). The electric motor (24) is coupled to the input shaft (14) or the output shaft (16) of the main transmission (16) by an intermediate transmission (22) having at least two transmission ratio steps. In order to accelerate the motor vehicle from rest, the drive is initially effected solely by the electric motor (24) with the intermediate transmission (22) in its lowest transmission ratio step. The drawing is then taken over by the internal combustion engine (10) before a shift operation in the intermediate transmission (22). In this case, the intermediate transmission (22) is preferably a claw shift transmission.

Each arm (2) has first pivot means (9) in the region where the arm (2) joins the base portion (1) and second pivot means (10) radially inward thereof. Depression of the disk-engaging means (3) towards the base portion (1) causes the inner ends of the arms (2) and the center of the disk (11), to be depressed towards the base portion (1), the arms (2) initially pivoting about the first pivot means (9) and subsequently pivoting about the second pivot means (10) until retention of the disk (11) by the disk-engaging means (3) is released. This enables the thickness of the apparatus to be reduced, e.g. to 4 mm or less.

Abstract: A container (1) comprises a container body comprising first and second parts (3, 5) which may be brought together to close container and separated to open the container, and a retaining device (11) comprising a retaining member (13) and a release member (15), wherein the retaining member is securable in a retaining position in which it retains the first and second parts (3, 5) of the container body together and thereby contains the container closed, the retaining member (13) being manually disengageable from its retaining position by movement of the release member (15) with respect to the retaining member (13). The container is particularly suitable for containing one or more packs of pharmaceutical tablets.
