  • Patent number: 6474962
Abstract: An irrigation pump for use in irrigating small fields or supplementing larger irrigation systems can also be used for portable water supply for emergency, military, or for underdeveloped countries. The pump system is designed to be light-weight and semi-portable and can be powered with a small engine or electric motor. The apparatus uses a down well impeller that is driven by a flexible vertical shaft and a vertical shaft motor drive or engine. The pump impeller incorporates its own thrust and journal bearings for the pump shaft. The bearings are water lubricated. The main drive shaft is flexible and elongated and is supported over its entire length with a flexible shaft guide sleeve. The flexible drive shaft is surrounded by a convoluted well pipe so that the drive shaft and the well pipe can be removed from the well casing bore as a unit and then coiled for storage. The drive shaft accepts couplings at each end and a seal at its upper end.

  • Patent number: 5720281
Abstract: A respiratory mask is provided with an eye shield having a body portion which is releasably-secured to the mask, and a shield portion which shields the eyes of the wearer. The shield portion is self-supporting on the body portion and, hence, on the mask, and includes a sheet of transparent, eye-shielding, material which can be replaced if it becomes marked or damaged. The shield portion can be pivoted forwards, relative to the mask, so that it is removed from the line of vision of the wearer without affecting the respiratory protection provided by the mask. A valve arrangement in the body portion of the eye shield can divert air from the mask into the shield portion, to remove contaminants from the region around the eyes of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 5586724
Abstract: A two-component foam spray gun is readily disassembled for cleaning. It includes a body (1) with reactant (12, 14) and purge gas (16) inlet ports. A moldable valve packing (32) inside the body has a tapered conical interior surface (142), and apertures which match the reactant ports. A valve/tip (40) has a conical outer surface (48) which mates with the valve packing (32). The valve/tip (40) is held in place by a moldable packing washer (34), held at non-constant pressure by a screw (36, 38). The interior of the valve/tip (40) houses a removable mixing chamber (50). The mixing chamber (50) has direct flow orifices (60) and an auxiliary flow path (58, 60) which ameliorate pressure surges. The spray gun can be disassembled for cleaning without disturbing the seal, by removing the valve/tip (40) to the rear, thereby breaking it free of the conical packing. Rotation of the valve/tip (40) relative to the body (1) shuts off the reactant flow, and starts the purge gas flow.

  • Patent number: 4104877
Abstract: A suspension system for a pivotal nozzle of a jet propelled vehicle having a gas generator operable to effect propulsion of the vehicle, the system comprising a plurality of actuators connected to the exhaust nozzle and operable to effect pivotal movement thereof to steer the vehicle in a desired direction. Each actuator comprises a movable member connectible on one side to a source of fluid power to effect nozzle movement with the other side of the member being interconnected with said other side of each other actuator movable member to form a fluid suspension for the nozzle. In use, the suspension is pressurized to produce a force acting on the nozzle in a direction opposite to the load imposed on the nozzle by the gas from the gas generator acting thereon.
