Abstract: A fenced assembled from a plurality of pickets and at least one insert and at least one rail. The insert is laid across the pickets which are preferably arranged in spaced-parallel fashion. A piercing tool pierces through the insert and an associated picket, causing at least one tab of the insert, formed by the piercing action, to extend into the picket. The channel-shaped rail slides over the insert so that an integrated hook rib shape-fittingly moves into a gap between two integral legs provided near one end of the insert to lock the rail and insert to one another. The rail, in the locked position, substantially completely covers the insert, providing fence having an aesthetically appealing outer appearance.
