  • Patent number: 12153415
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for detecting a wide variety of fault conditions in a HVAC system based on analysis of current and historical energy consumption patterns, and on comparison with energy consumption patterns of other similarly situated RTUs. Energy consumption comparisons are preferably made in regard to a normalized load ratio or NLR or more preferably to a daily maximum normalized load ratio or MDNLR, which provide more robust and reliable bases for comparison of faulty and fault-free RTUs, and hence for generalized fault detection, than other previously known metrics or criteria.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 26, 2022
Date of Patent: November 26, 2024
    Assignee: ENCYCLE TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
Inventors: Mark Kerbel, Peter B. Malcolm

  • Publication number: 20150046562
Abstract: The invention relates to enabling one or more users or applications to orchestrate, through direct or indirect communications between Web browser instances, the operation of multiple of the Web browser instances, and/or pages of the same Web browser instance, thereby enhancing user experience and functionality. The invention thus provides for interacting with a computer generated webpage. In a particular embodiment, the method defines a centrally managed target set account on a target set server, and logging-in to the target set account from each device to be included the target set. An entry is created for each such logged-in device and each entry includes at least an identifier for each device and connection information for each device. Using the target set server, the information stored in the entries in the target set can be enabled as interactive displays on each of the devices identified in the target set entries.

  • Patent number: 5675725
Abstract: A backup program for a computer system with a hard disk maintains a record of changes made to the data in a file being backed up. During backup both the original and update file portions or records are stored, and the backup program reads the original data while other applications read the updated data. To identify whether a read operation is initiated by the backup program or by another application, the system determines, using the stack, the source of the read request. Alternatively it interrogates the user, process or task id. Access to the file by the backup program is guaranteed by manipulating the System File Table. It is ensured that the file is in a `good` state by delaying the start of the backup operation for a predetermined period.

  • Patent number: 5617566
Abstract: In a hierarchical storage management system, files are automatically archived when they have not been accessed for a specified period. With large database files, the file cannot be archived, even though only a small number of records has been used. In this invention an auxiliary database is maintained indicating which data blocks have been accessed and on what dates. Non-accessed blocks and then be archived and deleted from the disk file to reduce storage requirements.

  • Patent number: 5546534
Abstract: A method of operating a computer system, in particular a micro-computer having a storage device shared between several application programs, comprises a backup process including a process for maintaining a record of changes made to the data on the storage device whilst the backup process is executing. The record is used to ensure that the data seen by the backup process does not change while it is executing whilst allowing other processes to continue to update the storage device normally thereby avoiding delays associated with file locking techniques. The additional operations are executed at the level of the operating system interface of the microcomputer in such a manner that normal use of the computer is unaffected.

  • Patent number: 5086502
Abstract: A method of operating a data processing system, in particular a micro-computer, comprises a backup process in which a copy of every change made to a storage medium is recorded as the change occurs. Write operations for writing data to the storage medium are each preceded by a backup write operation to backup storage means, successive backup write operations being controlled so as to be stored as a sequential list in the backup storage means in the form of location blocks and data blocks to avoid the overwriting occurring in the storage medium. These backup write operations are executed at the level of the basic input/output system (BIOS) of the microcomputer in such a manner that normal use of the computer is unaffected. The method also includes a restore process in which bad sectors of a destination storage device are avoided by translating the file allocation table (FAT) and directories of the original data.
