  • Patent number: 9932390
Abstract: The present invention relates to the newly identified timerization initiating and stagger determining capacity of the NC2 domain of collagen IX. The invention further relates to a hexavalent molecular building block wherein the linkage of additional moieties to the amino and carboxyl terminals of monomers comprising the NC2 domain of collagen IX promotes the directed association of those moieties via the trimerization initiating and stagger determining capacity of the NC2 domain of collagen IX.

Date of Patent: April 3, 2018
    Assignee: SHRINERS HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN

  • Patent number: 5001976
Abstract: The auxiliary device for drawing in a lap sheet between the calender rollers includes a curved plate and a flexible flat structure secured to a rear edge of the plate. The plate is introduced into a gap between the first two calender rollers and moved about the second roller until entering the gap between the second and third rollers. The start of a lap sheet is then placed on the flexible flat structure and secured thereon and the plate and flexible flat structure then advanced until the lap issues upwardly through the gap between the second and third rollers. The auxiliary device is then removed and the leading edge of the lap sheet introduced between the third and fourth calender rollers for delivery to a winding roller.

  • Patent number: 4809920
Abstract: In a lap winding apparatus for forming a wadding lap from a wadding web, a lap receiving tube or the wadding lap formed thereon is supported on two winding rollers. On both sides of the winding rollers, support arms are provided which in the upper end region have means for receiving the tube and at the lower end region are connected with a pivoting mechanism which is operated by a pneumatic cylinder arrangement. Calender rollers compress the wadding web before the winding thereof. In order to prevent as far as possible "breathing" of the wadding web between the last calender rollers and the wadding lap a smoothing plate condenses the wadding web shortly before reaching the wadding lap for a last time. The smoothing plate is resiliently secured on both sides of the winding rollers to respective swing arms. On both sides of the winding rollers there is provided a respective swing arm and a force transmitting lever fixedly secured to a sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4372499
Abstract: A fabric winding process and apparatus for preparing a fabric pattern. A winding machine comprises a rotary drive mechanism for intermittent rotation of two card-holding chucks, and a thread-guide carriage which is translatable along a path adjacent a card held by the chucks parallel to the axis of rotation of the card. The drive mechanism and carriage are coupled such that when the winding card is not rotating, the carriage shifts a distance corresponding to a selected number of turns on the winding card such that a yarn of a selected color is wound about the card at all points on the card corresponding to the color in the desired fabric pattern. In this way, a desired pattern may be prepared without the necessity of threading or knotting several yarns together.

  • Patent number: 4037884
Abstract: In a tumbler switch, a lever is supported by a bearing in a cylinder in which space is limited. The load on the bearing is to be evenly distributed over portions of walls of the cylinder. The bearing which is used is a ball bearing, the direction of rotation of which is limited to one axis. The bearing includes a ball that has spaced flat end surfaces located in parallel planes. This type of toggle bearing is especially useful when employed in a switch housing.
