Publication number: 20240040323Abstract: The present application discloses a hearing prosthesis configured to alert a user of the presence of sound while operating in a sound awareness mode of operation. When a user of the hearing aid removes the external sound processor and microphone, traditionally, a hearing prosthesis does not produce any audio stimulus. Here, the systems and methods will alert a user to sounds in his or her environment when the external sound processor and microphone are decoupled from the internal components of the hearing prosthesis. In some embodiments, the hearing prosthesis may have an acoustic receiver that is implanted in the recipient. The implanted acoustic detector may be used to detect an aspect of a sound above a threshold level. The threshold may be chosen so the detected sound is a loud sound such as a fire alarm.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2023Publication date: February 1, 2024Inventor: Peter Bart Jos Van Gerwen

Publication number: 20150382116Abstract: An implantable microphone device is provided. The device comprises a hermetically sealed housing (3) having an internal cavity (2). The internal cavity (2) has a microphone assembly arranged to receive sound waves originating from external the housing (3). The device further comprises a pressure sensor arrangement, arranged to detect and determine the differential pressure between the internal cavity (2) and the exterior of the housing (3). The determined differential pressure is used to determine a suitable transfer function to be applied to the output of the microphone assembly to produce a signal representative of the received sound waves.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2015Publication date: December 31, 2015Inventor: Peter Bart Jos Van Gerwen

Patent number: 4911488Abstract: A motor-vehicle door-latch assembly for securing a door to a doorpost invention has a latch fork pivoted on the door, a support mounted on a doorpost, and a bolt projecting from the support and engageable by the fork to retain the door against the doorpost. An electric switch mounted on the support adjacent the bolt is operated by an actuating element engageable by the fork on closing of the door to actuate the switch. Thus the switch can be tucked out of the way inside the post-mounted bolt assembly where it is not exposed to the elements. In addition according to this invention the fork has a curved camming edge which slides over the actuating element. As a result the switch is actuated gently even if the door is slammed, since the camming edge, which typically extends as a spiral centered on the rotation axis of the fork, can reduce a substantial travel of the door to a small travel of the actuating element.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1988Date of Patent: March 27, 1990Assignee: Kiekert GMBH & Co.
