  • Publication number: 20110274129
Abstract: Cylindrical optical components of quartz glass are known, which have an inner zone made of an inner zone glass, which extends in the direction of the longitudinal axis and is surrounded by a jacket zone made of a jacket zone glass, the average pt wall thickness thereof varying at least over a part of its length in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the component. • Publication number: 20110264352
Abstract: To operate an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, during a plurality of driving cycles of the motor vehicle at least one operating variable is recorded during each run which is representative of a harmful substance content of an exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine. The recorded runs are analyzed with respect to recurring run patterns. In a current driving cycle of the motor vehicle, a target value of an ammonia charge level of an exhaust gas catalyst of the internal combustion engine is determined using the recurring run pattern, depending on which, at least one actuating signal for an actuator is determined, the position of which affects an actual ammonia charge level of the exhaust gas catalyst. In order to convert the determined target value of the ammonia charge level of the exhaust gas catalyst, the actuator is controlled as a function of the actuating signal.

  • Publication number: 20110100062
Abstract: A known refraction-sensitive optical fiber comprises a core zone with an index of refraction nK, a jacket zone surrounding the core zone, said jacket zone having an index of refraction nM, and an annular zone made of quartz glass doped with fluorine, said annular zone surrounding the jacket zone and having an index of refraction NF, where nF<nM<nK. With this as a starting point, an optical fiber is to be provided that is characterized by high refraction-sensitivity, good spliceability and compatibility, and a method is to be provided for cost-effective manufacture of such a fiber. With regard to the method, this object is accomplished according to the invention in that the quartz glass of the annular zone (21) is produced in a plasma deposition process on the outside in which an annular zonal layer made of the quartz glass doped with fluorine is produced on a substrate body (20), said layer having a layer thickness of at least 1 mm and an index of refraction nF<1.

  • Publication number: 20110094208
Abstract: In a method and device for controlling an exhaust gas post-treatment for an internal combustion engine with at least one cylinder (Z1-Z4) and one combustion chamber (26) and one exhaust gas tract (14) in which is disposed an SCR catalyst (34), a humidity parameter (HDT EXH) of an exhaust gas in the exhaust gas tract (14) is determined upstream of the SCR catalyst (34) of the internal combustion machine. A control signal for an actuator for introducing ammonia into the exhaust gas is determined as a function of the humidity parameter (HDT_EXH) of the exhaust gas, and the actuator is adjusted accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20110047972
Abstract: In an internal-combustion engine exhaust gas system, a storage tank stores the reducing agent, a supply pipe connects the storage tank to a metering unit which introduces the reducing agent into the exhaust gas system. A pump mechanism within the supply pipe conveys the reducing agent. A pressure sensor detects the pressure in the supply pipe downstream of the pump, and a pressure-releasing device has a return pipe connected to the storage tank and comes off the supply pipe. A first valve system is arranged in the supply pipe. A section of the return pipe is located at a higher level than the return pipe to form a storage volume for air present in the supply pipe. A second valve system is arranged in the supply pipe to create, when the second valve system is closed, a storage volume for pressurized reducing agent by way of this pipe branch.

  • Publication number: 20100257842
Abstract: In a method for adapting the reducing agent feed in an exhaust gas aftertreatment system having an SCR catalyst for removing nitrogen oxides from the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine and at least one reducing agent feed device, the minimum opening time of the reducing agent feed device is determined during operation and while suspending nitrogen emission, carrying out the following steps: a) the opening time of the reducing agent feed device is gradually prolonged until b) a reducing agent-sensitive sensor in the exhaust gas aftertreatment system detects a reducing agent signal. An exhaust gas aftertreatment system is designed accordingly for carrying out the method and a device is designed for controlling an exhaust gas aftertreatment system.

  • Patent number: 7681416
Abstract: The production of an optical component from quartz glass, by elongation of a coaxial arrangement of a core rod and a hollow cylinder of a given length, is known. The arrangement is thus introduced into a heating zone with a vertical orientation, such that the lower end begins to partly soften and the component is drawn downwards from the softened part. The hollow cylinder has an inner passage, provided with a restriction in the region of the lower end thereof, on which the core rod is supported. Several methods are disclosed for formation of the restriction in which the inner passage (55) is mechanically machined to a final dimension and, in one version of the method, the restriction in the inner passage (55) is generated by means of softening the lower end face of the hollow cylinder, swaged against a tool and thus folded inwards with formation of a peripheral bead ring.
