Abstract: Disclosed is a device (V) for concentrating a liquid (F) which is pumped through a concentrating apparatus (3) by means of a differential piston pump and directly impinges the differential piston (K) in an assisting manner during the conveying stroke at a residual pressure as a concentrate (FK). The differential piston of said device (V) is driven by a drive shaft (12) that actuates a linearly guided valve control member (18) of an intake and discharge valve assembly (A). The differential piston pump is embodied as a radial piston pump (R) in which eccentric attachments (13, 14) for the differential piston (K) and the valve control member (18) are disposed on the drive shaft (12), the differential piston (K) and the valve control member (18) being hinged directly to the eccentric attachments (13, 14) by means of traction and pressure couplings (S).

  • Patent number: 7239875
Abstract: A method is provided of establishing or releasing a radio connection between a first mobile user station and a first cell for wireless telecommunications during a call with the first mobile user station. This is both whilst the call continues and dependent upon at least one predetermined criterion being met. This occurs in a network for wireless telecommunications handling calls with various data rates to mobile user stations such that some of the mobile user stations at a time have multiple radio connections to the network via multiple cells. A pilot signal is sent between the first cell and the first mobile user station. Received signal quality of the pilot signal between the first cell and the first mobile user station is detected. At least one predetermined criterion is selected dependent upon data rate of the call, and if it is determining that said signal quality of the pilot signal meets said at least one predetermined criterion, said radio connection is released or established.

  • Publication number: 20030228871
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for estimating radio resource consumed by a service and its application for overload control provided between nodes and user equipment (UE), particularly in a code-division multiple-access (CDMA) network, comprising the steps of: extracting a first parameter from a common pilot channel (CPiCH) representing the ratio of received energy per chip to the total received power spectral density (EC/I0 CPiCH) and/or a second parameter representing the transmitted power of the common pilot channel (PCPiCH), assigning said first and/or said second parameter to a third parameter such that the third parameter represents the radio resource consumption of the service (Pi/Pmax, Ci).

  • Publication number: 20030142623
Abstract: A new and improved approach is described to avoid problems of overload handling for a random access packet transmission in packet switched mobile networks and in particular, to limit the transmit delay of at least some selected data flows even in case of a long-term overload situation. It is suggested to employ on a respective random access packet transmission channel an admission control functionality depending on a request for the adding of a new data flow and/or to employ on the respective random access packet transmission channel a congestion control functionality depending on varying environments.

  • Publication number: 20030056010
Abstract: A piece of content and an associated original metadata are received by a device. The original metadata may have been corrupted during delivery to the device or may be outdated. The device enables modifying the original metadata. The device comprises an identifier to determine identification data for a piece of content. The identification data may be a fingerprint generated from content. The identification data is used to access a record in a database associated with the piece of content. A processing unit of the device determines a new metadata from the accessed record. The device modifies the original metadata from the new metadata.

  • Publication number: 20030007662
Abstract: A value added watermarking technology is provided to permit enhanced information services. In such a technology a characteristic pattern is derived for a piece of content and the characteristic pattern is associated with content-related information. The content-related information may be stored in a remote database and retrieved using the characteristic pattern. The characteristic pattern is translated in a watermark to be embedded in the piece of content. After embedding in the piece of content, the watermark enables a user to access the content-related information when playing out marked content with a player equipped with the appropriate software to detect and read the watermark.

  • Publication number: 20020161634
Abstract: A method is provided enabling an individual to temporarily control the display of an electronic document. A portion of the document is automatically updated and modified while displayed without the user being in control of the change. When a specific content information is displayed in the portion, the method allows the individual to request the display in the portion of another content information in lieu of the specific content information. The other content information may be displayed for a predetermined period of time.

  • Patent number: 6472580
Abstract: A method for safely treating and disposing of infectious biomedical waste and other hazardous materials is disclosed. The method involves alkaline hydrolysis of infectious agents contained in regulated medical waste or hazardous waste solutions. The infectious waste is immersed into a highly basic solvent which is then heated. The material containing the infectious agents is allowed to remain within the heated solvent until the hydrolyzable matter is fully digested, thereby forming a sterile solution and sterile solid waste. The sterile soluti and solid waste may then be disposed of through standard means, such as in a sanitary sewage system or local landfill facility. The method also provides for the treatment of lipid soluble hazardous material contained in the regulated medical waste.
