  • Patent number: 7232373
Abstract: A driveshaft assembly having two CV joints and an intermediate shaft. One of the CV joints (11) includes an outer joint part (12) with first ball tracks (14), an inner joint part (17) with second ball tracks (18), and balls (19) held in a common plane by a cage (20). First and second angles of intersection of the ball tracks (14, 18) of a pair of tracks are identical in size and are positioned symmetrically relative to the joint axis. The ball cage (20) is axially fixed in the constant velocity joint. The intermediate shaft includes a longitudinal plunging unit (41) having a sleeve (42) with first ball grooves (43) which extend axially, a journal (44) with second ball grooves (45) which extend axially, balls (46) which are held in a cage (47) in groups in pairs of the first and second ball grooves (43, 45).

  • Patent number: 6497622
Abstract: A constant velocity fixed joint comprising an outer joint part forming an annular member with a first longitudinal axis and comprising first ball tracks. The first ball tracks extend at a distance from the first longitudinal axis and each form a first angle of crossing therewith. The joint also includes an inner joint part forms a hub with a second longitudinal axis and comprising second ball tracks. The second ball tracks extend at a distance from the second longitudinal axis and each form a second angle of crossing therewith. The first ball tracks and the second ball tracks are circurnferentially distributed and associated with one another in pairs, with the first angles of crossing and the second angles of crossing of the pairs of ball tracks being identical in size and opening in opposite directions relative to the longitudinal axes. When the longitudinal axes coincide, the points of intersection of the pairs of ball tracks form a central joint plane.

  • Patent number: 6315671
Abstract: The invention relates to an assembly comprising a side shaft journal and a joint component of a CV-jointed shaft, and a method of making the same. The assembly provides a side shaft journal (31) for a differential gear, comprising an inner end which can be inserted into the differential gear, said inner end having an outer toothing (33) and a ring groove (23) for receiving a locking ring (24) by means of which the inner end can be removably connected to a side shaft wheel (25) of the differential gear. Said side shaft journal also comprises an outer end which can be connected to a joint component (41) of a universal-joint drive shaft, said outer end having a toothing (32) and formed elements (33, 34, 40) for receiving axial securing elements, which can be non-destructively removed, for the joint component. The shaft journal (31) is configured as a hollow shaft.

  • Patent number: 5676599
Abstract: An outer joint part for a tripod joint has a track portion with three circumferentially distributed, longitudinally extending, axis-parallel inner recesses with approximately parallel walls. A flange is secured to the track portion to connect shaft or gearbox parts. The portion of the outer joint part is produced by cold-forming with an approximately constant wall thickness. The flange includes a central inner recess whose inner contour mates with the outer contour of the track portion. The flange is slid on and connected to the track portion.
