  • Patent number: 5697487
Abstract: A pallet for a passenger conveyor includes an integrally formed thin walled support frame. The support frame walls all extend in the same principle direction to permit the support flame to be formed by an extrusion process. In a particular embodiment, the support frame includes thin walls extending in the width dimension. In another embodiment, the support frame includes multiple, integrally formed pieces having thin walls extending in the length dimension. The width of the support frame is dependent on the combined width of the multiple pieces.

  • Patent number: 5595278
Abstract: A pallet for a conveyor includes a first connector, a second connector, and a link engaging the connectors of adjacent pallets. The link permits the connectors of adjacent pallets to move relative to each other through an arcuate path. This arrangement for adjacent pallets results in a connection between the pallets that accommodates the varying distance between the adjacent pallets as they travel through a curved path.

  • Patent number: 5542522
Abstract: A balustrade assembly is provided having a shaped panel holder for supporting a balustrade panel, an outer decking and an inner profile. The inner profile, outer decking and panel holder include a clip apparatus which enable the outer decking and inner profile to be attached to the panel holder in a constant aligned position, independent of the balustrade panel. A method for assembling a balustrade assembly is also provided including the steps of providing a balustrade panel for supporting a handrail, a shaped panel holder, an inner profile, an outer decking, and apparatus for clipping the panel holder, the inner profile, and the outer decking together.

  • Patent number: 5511647
Abstract: An illuminated information display is provided for a passenger conveying device comprising a light source, a housing, and a display panel for mounting on the outer decking of passenger conveying device balustrade. According to an aspect of the present invention, a balustrade for a passenger conveying device is provided comprising an illuminated information display. According to another aspect of the present invention, a balustrade outer decking is provided having a light source incorporated therein.

  • Patent number: 5050721
Abstract: An escalator which follows a curvilinear path with a fixed center constant radius in plan must have steps with specially configured risers. The step risers will have vertical cleats which mesh with trailing edges of adjacent steps, which meshing must be performed without risk of jamming. The escalator has an outer step chain which changes its effectual length over the path of travel of the escalator, whereby it is shorter in the inclined zone and longer in the landing zones of the escalator. The radii of the step risers, in elevation must thus decrease along the step riser cleats as the cleats descend away from the step tread.

  • Patent number: 4883160
Abstract: An escalator is provided with a curved path of travel from its entry to its exit landings. The path of travel of the escalator steps as seen in plan is a curve having a fixed center and a constant radius from landing to landing. In elevation, each landing portion will be disposed in vertically spaced horizontal planes, and there will be a medial constant slope ascending or descending portion. Interconnecting each landing portion with the constant slope portion will be entry and exit transitional curved portions of varying slope as seen in the elevational view. To enable the steps to traverse the curved path successfully, the effective length of the outer of the step chains is varied at different points along the path of travel of the escalator.
