Patent number: 9750654Abstract: Height adjustable beds involve the risk for the patient to fall out of the bed. In order to prevent this to happen, the bed is furnished with a device which observes whether a nursing person is within a proximity zone of the bed. When the nursing person leaves the proximity zone and the bed is adjusted to a height implying potential danger for the person in the bed, a message (sms) is sent to a mobile unit carried by the nursing person. The indication warns the nursing person, making it possible for him to prevent the potential dangerous situation by height adjustment of the bed to a safe height for leaving the bed. Hereby personal injury is prevented or minimized as much as possible.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2010Date of Patent: September 5, 2017Assignee: Linak A/SInventor: Peter Brøndum

Publication number: 20160288568Abstract: A castor control system for controlling at least two castors in a castor control system is provided. The castors comprise an electric motor which can be used to set the castor in three different positions: directional lock, neutral or braked. The castors can be operated individually from an operating panel of the castor control system. The system can also set all castors in the braked position if a motion sensor of the castor control system detects motion and the castor control system is connected to mains voltage.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2013Publication date: October 6, 2016Inventor: PETER BRØNDUM

Patent number: 9266392Abstract: A system for controlling at least two castors (1) in a castor control system (28) is provided. The castor comprises a brake activator (7) which can be used to set the castor (1) in three different positions: directional lock, neutral or braked. The brake activator (7) can be operated manually, e.g. by foot, or via a servo motor assembly (14) having a servo motor connected to the brake activator of the castor. The servo motor assembly further comprises a printed circuit board (16), a microprocessor (17) and at least one switch (19,20) connected to the brake activator (7). The servo motor assembly can further comprise a motion sensor (18). The servo motor assembly of each castor is connected to an electric brake controller (33) of the castor control system. The castors can be operated from an operating panel (37) of the castor control system (28).Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 2012Date of Patent: February 23, 2016Assignee: Linak A/SInventor: Peter Brøndum

Patent number: 8965777Abstract: Communications system for exchanging data between a patient in an article of care furniture and a nursing staff or service personnel which manages a nursing task for the patient or a service function of the article of care furniture, where the control communicationwise is connected to a gateway, which comprises a modem for communication between a patient and the nursing staff or service personnel via the mobile telephone network where the communication is carried out by exchanging data in the form of text strings. The patient may with his actions or by activating a switch initiate the transmittal of a text string. When receiving a text string on a mobile receiver, the nursing staff may, based on the contents of the text string, determine whether the visiting route should be changed so that a more acute nursing task may be given a higher priority.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2009Date of Patent: February 24, 2015Assignee: Linak A/SInventors: Karsten Westermann, Peter Brøndum Jensen

Publication number: 20110166826Abstract: A control for ensuring periodical servicing of articles of hospital and care furniture (1). The control is based on the cleaning of the article of furniture and recaptures the number of cleanings in a counter. The signal for the counter is initiated either by manual activation when the piece of furniture has been cleaned, or automatically when the piece of furniture (1) is driven out of the automatic washer apparatus (2). In a special embodiment a thermo sensor is used to detect that the article of furniture is being cleaned. An indication of the requirement for servicing is triggered and shown in an indication panel (24) when the number of cleanings exceeds a preset number.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2009Publication date: July 7, 2011Inventors: Peter Brøndum Jensen, Svend Erik Knudsen Jensen

Publication number: 20100319729Abstract: A control for ensuring periodical cleaning of articles of hospital and care furniture (1). The control is initiated either by manual activation when the piece of furniture has been cleaned, or when the piece of furniture (1) is driven out of the automatic washer system (2). A timer process is started and after expiration of a preset time, it is indicated on an indication panel that the piece of furniture again needs cleaning. In a parallel process, the number of activations of the control unit (12) is registered, and an indication of the requirement for cleaning is triggered when the number of activations exceeds a preset number.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2008Publication date: December 23, 2010Inventor: Peter Brøndum Jensen
