  • Patent number: 6835265
Abstract: A method for preparing sheets of material from a roll of a dual layered, highly embossed element useful in wrapping floral elements such as flower pots and the like. This material comprises a plastic or sealing layer laminated to an aluminum forming layer. The plastic layer may be embossed prior to lamination or after lamination and may also be colored. The roll of highly embossed material is perforated using small slits across the width thereof at predetermined points along the width. The user separates sheets of material as needed by pulling down and tearing the material along these perforated points.

  • Patent number: 6598555
Abstract: A marine anchoring arrangement is described wherein a marine anchor (1, 23) is drivingly embedded vertically into a mooring bed (10) by an elongate follower (13), especially by its own weight and that of the follower. The follower (13) has a bottom clevis part (103) adapted to hold detachably the anchor (1) via the anchor shank (2) by means of a fulcrum pin (17) whereby the anchor (1) may swing relative to the bottom part (103). For initial penetration, the anchor (1) is held in a position of minimum forward resistance, specifically with the forward direction F of the fluke (3) parallel to the follower axis (20) and this is achieved by a shear pin (109) between the anchor (1) and the bottom part (103).

  • Patent number: 6546476
Abstract: A method and apparatus for optimizing the efficiency of a data bus for a memory device. Extra latency is added between the time a memory controller issues a write instruction and the time the data is transferred on the data bus. This additional latency is optimized to reduce the number of idle time slots on the data bus when switching between a read instruction and a write instruction. Programmable registers are provided for adjusting the amount of latency.

  • Publication number: 20020192048
Abstract: A lockable nut system for use with threaded steel bar which includes a screw threaded nut for engagement with the threaded steel bar and a locking member which is slidably engageable with the bar. The locking member is adapted to resist rotation about the bar and is also axially engageable with the nut to prevent rotation of the nut. The locking member has one or more fingers to engage the nut with an end of the finger being displaced to engage the nut as a result of deformation of a finger actuating tab or a dished body of the locking member. The device can comprise (a) a drag embedment anchor (1) or alternatively (b) a direct embedment anchor (1A). The low friction surface can be formed by a low friction coating which is adhered to the external surface of the device, or by a coating which is smeared onto the external surface. • Patent number: 6118405
Abstract: A radio frequency antenna arrangement comprising an array of radiating elements, such as radiating antenna patches, which are co-located in a circuit, such as a microstrip circuit, with feeder elements which couple electromagnetic radiation to the radiating elements. The antenna arrangement has an electrically conductive backplate located behind the circuit, which acts as a groundplane and which is separated from the circuit by a dielectric layer. To reduce electromagnetic interference from the feeder elements which could disrupt the antenna pattern an electrically conductive screen is located directly in front of the feeder elements of the circuit but selectively exposes the array of radiating elements. The screen is spaced from the feeder elements and is not electrically connected to the backplate so that the screen, feeder elements and backplate do not form a triplate structure.

  • Patent number: 6002370
Abstract: A radio frequency antenna arrangement for selective operation at orthogonal polarizations of electromagnetic radiation. The antenna arrangement comprises at least one radiating element, such as one or more antenna patches, each having a vertical polarization feed point and a horizontal polarization feed point. The arrangement also includes a vertical feeder circuit for coupling a radio frequency modulated electromagnetic signal to the vertical polarization feed point of the or each radiating element, a horizontal feeder circuit for coupling a radio frequency modulated electromagnetic signal to the horizontal polarization feed point of the or each radiating element and a terminating resistive load. A switch mechanism is provided for selectively coupling the electromagnetic signal to one of the horizontal feeder circuit or the vertical feeder circuit and for selectively coupling the load to the other of the horizontal feeder circuit or the vertical feeder circuit.

  • Patent number: 5970901
Abstract: Apparatus provided for producing measurement data capable of characterizing a burial trajectory (2) traced out in a sea-bed soil (3), and additionally to be capable of measuring a soils parameter such as the penetration resistance of the soil (3). In particular the apparatus checks for the anchorability of a particular sea-bed location and also provides a certain indication of the nature of the soil in stratae in the bed at this location. Specifically the apparatus achieves measurements via a point on a burying apparatus (5) as the burying apparatus moves in the trajectory. More especially the apparatus includes means (19, 29) located in a body (12) carried by the burying apparatus to sense the distance along the trajectory (2) separating two spaced points on the trajectory, and from that by additional means sense the position of a point in the soil at a particular instant thereby enabling the path of the trajectory (2) to be plotted.

  • Patent number: 5941405
Abstract: A collapsible cargo container for aircraft. The container comprises a base and roof preferably constructed from aluminum and flexible side walls formed from light weight fabric. The roof is releasably supported in the erected position by foldable support posts which extend upwardly from each comer of the container base. The roof is vertically slidable relative to the support posts between the erected position and a collapsed position proximate to the base. In the collapsed position, the flexible walls are stowed between the base and the roof. The support posts are pivotably coupled to the base and may be folded to a collapsed position resting on an upper surface of the roof. The container may further include a pallet extension to conform to the dimensions of below-deck aircraft cargo holds.

  • Patent number: 5922455
Abstract: A novel wrapping element comprising at least two layers in intimate contact is described. This element has a sealing layer which is applied to the element to be wrapped and a forming layer which is holographically enhanced on the outside. The holographic enhancement adds interest and beauty to the element to be wrapped which may include flower and floral arrangements, flower pots, and gifts, among others. Since the sealing layer will hold in any moisture or other material which may leak therefrom and since the forming layer permits the forming of the wrapping element about the element to be wrapped, there is great utility within this use.

  • Patent number: 5890451
Abstract: A drag embedment normal load anchor ("Denla") comprises a fluke with a shank pivotally attached thereto, the shank including an anchor cable attachment point and control or restraint mechanisms whereby the shank can be set such that the cable attachment point can lie selectively in first, second, and third directions relative to the fluke centroid, the directions providing three fluke centroid angles (.alpha., .beta., and .theta., respectively) with the fluke forward direction (F). The Denla is part of an anchoring apparatus including a rear drogue line serving to orientate the anchor correctly at the sea bed without the need for a separate pendant line. In operation, the Denla is embedded by pulling on an anchor cable with the first fluke centroid angle .alpha. present; when the desired horizontal anchor loading is achieved, the shank is moved to the second larger centroid angle .beta.
