  • Patent number: 10501322
Abstract: Improved methods of synthesizing oxygen-functionalized boron nitride (O—BN) are disclosed. In the disclosed methods, boron nitride (BN) in any form is contacted with a gaseous composition or compositions that include oxygen and an organic compound, such as, but not limited to, a hydrocarbon.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 2017
Date of Patent: December 10, 2019
    Assignee: Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation
Inventors: Ive Hermans, Joseph Thomas Grant, Juan Mauricio Venegas, Samuel Peter Burt, Philipp Mueller, Somphonh Peter Phivilay

  • Patent number: 7385626
Abstract: A method and system for detecting moving objects and controlling a surveillance system includes a processing module adapted to receive image information from at least one imaging sensor. The system performs motion detection analysis upon captured images and controls the camera in a specific manner upon detection of a moving object. The image processing uses the camera's physical orientation to a surveillance area to facilitate mapping images captured by the camera to a reference map of the surveillance area. Using the camera orientation, a moving object's position (e.g., latitude, longitude and altitude) within a scene can be derived.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 10, 2008
    Assignee: Sarnoff Corporation
Inventors: Manoj Aggarwal, Harpreet Sawhney, Supun Samarasakera, Rakesh Kumar, Peter Burt, Jayan Eledath, Keith J. Hanna
  • Publication number: 20050265633
Abstract: A video processor that uses a low latency pyramid processing technique for fusing images from multiple sensors. The imagery from multiple sensors is enhanced, warped into alignment, and then fused with one another in a manner that provides the fusing to occur within a single frame of video, i.e., sub-frame processing. Such sub-frame processing results in a sub-frame delay between a moment of capturing the images to the display of the fused imagery.

  • Publication number: 20050190990
Abstract: A method and apparatus for combining a plurality of images is disclosed. In one embodiment, at least one signal component is determined from a plurality of source images using feature selective fusion. At least one color component is determined from the plurality of source images using color fusion. An output image is formed from the at least one signal component and the at least one color component. In another embodiment, at least one image component is determined from a plurality of source images using feature selective fusion. An output image is formed from the at least one image component using color fusion.

  • Patent number: 6907073
Abstract: A scaleable video encoder has one or more encoding modes in which at least some, and possibly all, of the motion information used during motion-based predictive encoding of a video stream is excluded from the resulting encoded video bitstream, where a corresponding video decoder is capable of performing its own motion computation to generate its own version of the motion information used to perform motion-based predictive decoding in order to decode the bitstream to generate a decoded video stream. All motion computation, whether at the encoder or the decoder, is preferably performed on decoded data. For example, frames may be encoded as either H, L, or B frames, where H frames are intra-coded at full resolution and L frames are intra-coded at low resolution. The motion information is generated by applying motion computation to decoded L and H frames and used to generate synthesized L frames.
