Patent number: 9368925Abstract: An IS-4 terminal connector assembly includes three terminal electrodes positioned over an inner tubular member such that they are radially offset from one another. Each of the terminal ring electrodes are configured such that they can withstand both tensile and cyclical bending loads with minimal compromise in their outer geometry. Additionally, each of the terminal electrodes is configured such that they have both an inner and outer geometry that facilitates adequate insulation between a select terminal electrode and an adjacent conductor. Additionally, each of the terminal ring electrodes is configured such that they facilitate an external approach to staking a cable conductor.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2013Date of Patent: June 14, 2016Assignee: Cardiac Pacemakers, Inc.Inventors: Lily Lim, Ronald W. Publication number: 20100234930Abstract: A method for making an implantable electrode for a cardiac lead includes forming a template including a plurality of features having substantially similar feature dimensions is formed. The template defines a shape corresponding to a shape of the implantable electrode. A layer of conductive material is then deposited on the template such that the conductive material shapes to the plurality of features to define an array of electrode pores having substantially similar pore dimensions in the layer of conductive material. The template is then removed from the layer of conductive material.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2010Publication date: September 16, 2010Inventors: Brendan E. Koop, Peter C. Hall

Patent number: 6875949Abstract: A method of welding titanium, and titanium based alloys, to ferrous metals is described. Welding of titanium, and titanium based alloys, is plagued with poor quality and highly brittle welds, substantially due to formation of Ti—Fe intermetallics in the weld pool. The instant invention provides supplementary filler material to alter the proportions of various elements in the weld pool. Certain fillers, such as nickel or iron, added to the weld pool enable high quality welds to be fabricated utilizing a wide variety of fusion welding techniques, including laser welding, between titanium, or titanium based alloys, and ferrous metals, including but not limited to the welding of nickel-titanium and stainless steel. Filler material may be supplied in various forms, including foil, wire, powders, preformed gaskets, and numerous others. Optionally, the titanium or titanium based alloy may be stress relieved to achieve full recovery of the shape memory strain prior to welding.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2003Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: Edison Welding InstituteInventor: Peter C.
