The turf layer extends a certain distance beyond the base to cover a ground surface adjacent to that on which the base is placed to rest. A golf ball may be placed on either an inclined or a flat portion of the turf layer and a golfer can stand on the turf layer in such relation to the golf ball as to simulate a desired uphill, downhill, or sidehill lie, or a flat lie. In the disclosed embodiment, one or more divots may be simulated on either flat or inclined portions on the turf layer.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, graphical user interfaces, and articles of manufacture consistent with the present invention allow for biological assay preparation and automated biological macromolecule purification. Consistent with the present invention, a user may instruct the system to perform a series of assay preparation and purification procedures. A user may choose a series of procedures to be performed by a single automated workstation, one after the other, without human intervention. A user may specify, for example, a combination of lysis, archive, purification, and isolation protocols, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR). For each chosen procedure, a user may select a standard protocol or create a new protocol. Parameters for each of the protocols are cross-checked against parameters of other chosen protocols and system hardware for physical and rational limitations.

    Abstract: A temperature compensated time delay element employs a non-temperature compensated delay element along a first delayed path, and a second non-temperature compensated delay element along a second "undelayed" path to provide a net time delay equal to the difference between the delays in the delayed and undelayed paths. The substrate materials used in the delay elements in the delayed and undelayed paths, and the time delays of the two paths, are selected such that the variation of net phase shift, or time delay, with temperature is zero. The temperature coefficients of the substrate materials in the delayed and undelayed paths can both be positive, thus allowing the use of common substrate materials. The temperature compensated time delay element finds particular utility in differentially coherent signal detection systems.
