  • Publication number: 20090187700
Abstract: Methods and systems are herein disclosed for write operation retry using the data stored and retained in an internal buffer within the non-volatile memory device. By using the data stored in the internal buffer, the systems and method of the present invention eliminate the need to include a dedicated retry buffer at the system level. Thereby, reducing the system cost, minimizing space consumption on a board within the system and, in some instance, limiting the latency attributed to a retry that relies on retrying the write based on re-transferring of the data contents to the internal non-volatile memory buffer.

  • Patent number: 7540159
Abstract: According to one embodiment, the present technique provides a method of transporting a cryogenic device between first and second facilities. The exemplary method includes actively maintaining cryogen in the device within desired parameters. According to another embodiment, the present technique provides a portable resource supply, which provides resources to a cryogenic imaging device during transportation. Advantageously, the portable supply unit may actively maintain cryogen in the imaging device within desired parameters. Moreover, the portable supply unit may reduce the likelihood of a loss of cryogen and a loss of superconductivity in the imaging device. Furthermore, the present technique provides a maintenance system for cryogenic imaging devices. As one example, the maintenance system may include an intermediate facility having resources for maintaining a cryogenic imaging device during transportation thereof.

Abstract: The present application provides for apparatuses and methods for monitoring steam turbine valve assemblies. In one embodiment of the present application a method for monitoring valve assemblies is provided. First, the vibration characteristics of at least one valve assembly prior to operation may be measured. Next, the behavior of that valve assembly may be monitored during operation of the valve assembly, then compared to the vibration characteristics determined prior to operation. Comparing the valve assembly behavior monitored during operation to the valve assembly characteristics measured prior to operation may allow for estimating the stress levels experienced by the valve assembly during operation.

  • Patent number: 7339471
Abstract: A time-controlled security lighting system records the length of nighttime and is capable of automatically adjusting for seasonal nighttime hours. The time duration between the initial nighttime darkness and the light of dawn, as sensed from the prior day by a photocell, is measured and recorded in memory. As the surrounding area becomes dark, the lighting system is activated to provide the illumination for the area. The duration of illumination is determined based on a predetermined fraction of the recorded length of nighttime from the previous night. The control system can adjust the duration of illumination according the recorded nighttime durations from the previous night. The control system can also adjust the level of illumination based on the signals from a motion detector, where the lights are set at a higher brightness for a predetermined amount of time upon detection of motion.

  • Publication number: 20070300259
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards enabling systems and methods for customizing and providing multiple interactive program guides (IPGs) for each member in a household. Once determined which member(s) is in the room watching television, the associated customized IPG is displayed. If there are multiple members in the room watching television, a customized combined IPG may be displayed. The present invention determines who is in the room by one of toggling buttons on a remote control; a GUI screen displaying the multiple members; facial recognition; Bluetooth or wireless technology, to name but a few.

  • Publication number: 20070208840
Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) provides a plurality of views of a network and its elements in the same viewing engine. A user can switch between the plurality of views in a context-sensitive manner, each view showing relationship or interconnection information. The GUI allows a user to view inter-related objects at the same level, and to view at a lower level sub-objects that make up each of those objects. Different functional views can be provided at the same hierarchical or logical level based on the stored relationship information. A user can navigate between a network level view, a site level view, a shelf level view, and a schematic level view, via element selection or by zooming. A network element data set provides context-sensitive data and images to each level and view for that network element and enables automatic generation of a network topology.
