  • Patent number: 10005114
Abstract: A work roll cooling apparatus for a rolling mill includes: at least one chock (200) which is configured to support a work roll (100) in the rolling mill. The work roll (100) has an axis (X) about which it is rotatable. A shroud (300) so positioned adjacent the work roll rolling surface (100a) when the roll is in use to provide a cooling space within which a coolant is brought into contact with the work roll (100). The shroud includes a first part (301) disposed on the chock (200) to provide a predetermined gap (G) between the first part (301) and the work roll (100), a second part (302), and a connection for releasably connecting the first and second parts (301, 302).

  • Publication number: 20160303626
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for spraying a cryogenic fluid (2) to a work piece (1) which includes a cryogen feed line (3), at least one delivery nozzle (4) for delivering the cryogenic fluid (2), a shroud (6) which surrounds at least part of said delivery nozzle (4) and which has a front face with an opening which is directed to the workpiece. The shroud (6) and the work piece (1) are movable relative to each other between a working configuration and a maintenance configuration, In the maintenance configuration the shroud (6) comprises a barrier which prevents or minimizes ambient air from entering the shroud (6).

  • Patent number: 8978437
Abstract: An apparatus and a method provided for spraying a coolant to a work piece include a coolant feed line, at least one delivery nozzle for delivering the coolant, and shielding means which surround at least part of said delivery nozzle. The shielding means are arranged with the work piece to form an essentially closed space, and said shielding means includes exhausting means for exhausting gas from the essentially closed space, and means for keeping the outside of the shielding means at a temperature above the dew point.

  • Patent number: 8505426
Abstract: A method, and an apparatus, for operating a hydraulic shearing machine. For cutting a shearing-movement of at least one shear blade which is curved, starting from a starting-position under application of an overall actuating-force and for resetting of the shear blades which were moved for cutting to their starting-position after accomplishment of the shearing-movement, a reset-movement under application of an overall reset-force. The shearing-movement and the reset-movement are accomplished by a hydraulic actuating-mechanism comprising hydraulic cylinders, wherein the overall actuating-force and the overall reset-force being applied to the moved shear blades by at least one hydraulic cylinder of the actuating-mechanism. The magnitude of the overall actuating-force is adjustable by switching one or several hydraulic cylinders of the actuating-mechanism in and out of operation-mode.
