  • Publication number: 20220072998
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a rearview camera capturing images of a scene behind the motor vehicle. An electronic processor receives the images captured by the camera. A virtual image projection arrangement is communicatively coupled to the electronic processor and presents a virtual image dependent upon the images captured by the camera. The virtual image is visible by a driver of the vehicle after being reflected by a windshield.

  • Publication number: 20180321490
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a windshield having a plastic layer sandwiched between two glass layers. The plastic layer has a partially reflective element therein. The partially reflective element passes a first portion of light received from a first direction and reflects a remainder of the light in a second direction. A projection arrangement projects a light field onto the partially reflective element such that a reflected portion of the light field is visible to a driver of the motor vehicle as a virtual image.

  • Publication number: 20180101010
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a head up display projector producing a light field such that the light field is reflected off of a windshield of the motor vehicle and is then visible to a driver of the motor vehicle as a virtual image. A sensor measures an effect of vibration on the motor vehicle and transmits a sensor signal dependent upon the measured effect. An actuator is coupled to the head up display projector and moves a component of the head up display projector such that a position and/or orientation of the virtual image as perceived by the driver is changed. An electronic processor is communicatively coupled to each of the head up display projector, the sensor and the actuator. The electronic processor receives the sensor signal and controls the actuator dependent upon the sensor signal such that the virtual image appears to be unaffected by the vibration.
