  • Publication number: 20230416561
Abstract: A method for coating a surface, including the steps: a) applying a first layer of a moisture-curable composition onto a surface, b) optionally letting the applied moisture-curable composition cure into a dried first layer, c) applying a second layer of the moisture-curable composition onto the optionally dried first layer, wherein the moisture-curable composition includes: between 20 and 50 wt.-%, preferably between 25 and 45 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the composition, of at least one organic polymer which is liquid at room temperature and contains reactive silane groups, and between 10 and 30 wt.-%, preferably between 15 and 25 wt.-%, based on the total weight of the composition, of at least one polyether PE having between 2 and 6 ether oxygen atoms and is free of hydroxyl groups; and at least one curing catalyst for reactive silane groups. The method yields a multilayer coating with high intercoat adhesion.

  • Patent number: 11535810
Abstract: A method for removing aromatic compounds from a hydrocarbon fluid comprises contacting the hydrocarbon fluid with a solid-phase polymeric material. The solid-phase polymeric material comprises a cross-linked polymer which contains aromatic groups. The method may be used to prevent the build-up of sludge and soot in a lubricant system in an internal combustion engine. A polymer bead comprising a solid-phase polymeric material is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9790398
Abstract: The present application is directed at the reaction product of an azide compound having two or more azide groups attached thereto and an alkyne compound having two or more alkyne groups attached thereto, wherein the azide and alkyne groups react in a 1,3-dipolar cyclo addition to form 1,4-disubstituted triazols and wherein the azide or alkyne compound or both include —O—(C?O)—NR— functional groups. The reaction products can be used as coatings, such as for flat roofs, sealants, adhesives and in elastomer applications. Methods for producing the reaction products as well as substrates including a coating of the reaction product are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9029473
Abstract: Disclosed are polyvalent macromolecules, compositions comprising the macromolecules, and methods of use. The polyvalent macromolecules have a polymer backbone and pendent groups attached to the polymer backbone. Some or all of the pendent groups have optionally a linker, a surface-seeking group capable of binding strongly to a metal surface, and a spectroscopically detectable chromophore detectable.

  • Publication number: 20100035359
Abstract: The invention relates generally to polyvalent macromolecules comprising: (a) a polymer backbone and (b) pendent groups attached to said polymer backbone, wherein some or all of said pendent groups comprise: (i) optionally a linker, (ii) a surface-seeking group, which is capable of binding strongly to a metal surface, (iii) optionally a chromophore, which is detectable by at least one spectroscopic method. Such molecules can modify metal surfaces and have a variety of uses including (without limitation) appending chromophores to metal surfaces without the need to establish complex chemistry; for the stabilisation and labelling of metal nanoparticles; and for preparing and aggregating nanoparticles in a controlled fashion.

  • Publication number: 20070289967
Abstract: A rubbish receptacle or bin including a container with an uppermost lid which is connected to the container by a pivot connection about an axis so that it can assume, by being pivoted about its pivot connection, a closed position with respect to an otherwise open top of the container and in a further open position whereby access for introduction of rubbish into the container can be achieved, wherein there is a compactor which is located so as to be below the lid when the lid is in a closed position with respect to the otherwise open top of the container.
