  • Publication number: 20230381560
Abstract: A method of fire suppression may include injecting a reactive agent into a reaction zone to produce a catalytically active species for fire suppression and conveying the catalytically active species to a fire to catalytically interfere with flame chemistry of the fire. Fire in a fuel tank may be suppressed by injecting the reactive agent into a convective flow of a mixture of fuel and oxidizer in a fuel tank, the reactive agent reacting in the fuel tank to release a species which catalytically interferes with flame chemistry to suppress fire in the fuel tank. Fire at an airplane crash may be suppressed by releasing the reactive agent from the container at the crash site to produce an active species to catalytically interfere with a fire at the crash site.

  • Publication number: 20230378120
Abstract: A method to aid in a calibration of a compression system includes mounting a first substrate in a press. The press has calibration parameters, and the first substrate has a test film on a first surface. The method includes mounting a second substrate in the press. The second substrate has spikes arranged in a spike pattern on a second surface. The method includes compressing the first substrate and the second substrate together with a force that causes the spikes to form indentations in the test film, separating the first substrate from the second substrate, determining local pressures applied by the spikes against the test film, and adjusting one or more calibration parameters of the press in response to the local pressures.

  • Publication number: 20230378126
Abstract: An inter-substrate bond structure includes an adhesion layer that attached to a first substrate, and an outer gas-permeable layer coupled to the adhesion layer. The outer gas-permeable layer expands and fractures in response to absorbing a gas. The inter-substrate bond structure includes an outer bond layer coupled to the outer gas-permeable layer. The outer bond layer forms an initial thermocompression bond with a mating layer on a second substrate. The initial thermocompression bond bonds the first substrate to the second substrate with the inter-substrate bond structure. The fracture in the inter-substrate bond structure debonds the first substrate from the second substrate while leaving a first portion of the inter-substrate bond structure attached to the first substrate.

  • Patent number: 11821966
Abstract: An optically pumped, atomic magnetometer incorporates a feedback system for stabilizing the magnetic bias field and suppressing unwanted background fields. The magnetic bias field is applied to a vapor cell containing host atoms of two different species, each of which resonates at a different Larmor frequency when both are subjected to the same magnetic bias field. One species provides the feedback for stabilizing the bias field, thereby creating a stabilizing magnetometer portion that nulls out the unwanted background fields. The other species provides magnetic field detection or signal reception on a radio communication frequency of interest, thereby creating a signal magnetometer portion that permits detection of the signal at the radio communication frequency.
