  • Patent number: 9806790
Abstract: First and second receivers are used to receive respective first and second signals, to process said first and second signals and provide respective first and second measures thereof to respective first and second transmitters. The first and second transmitters are configured to launch the first and second measures, respectively, each comprising a desired component that has originated at a desired source, and an interference component that has originated at an interfering source. The first and/or second transmitters are configured to process and launch the respective first and second measures, properly conditioned, so that upon interception thereof by a receiving element the interference components thereof add destructively and substantially cancel (or at least partially cancel) each other, whereas the desired components avoid substantial cancellation owing to a phase relationship therebetween that differs relative to a phase relationship between the interference components.

  • Patent number: 9705535
Abstract: Various embodiments of carrier aggregation are provided that increase communications capacity and throughput. According to some embodiments, a receiver may be configured with a plurality of receiver chains and, responsive to an aggregate bandwidth of an overall signal that is to be received by the receiver, a plurality of components of the overall signal, each comprising a bandwidth that is less than a frequency span of the overall signal, are received by a respective plurality of receiver chains. Accordingly, each component of the plurality of components of the overall signal may be received by a respective receiver chain of the plurality of receiver chains of the receiver thus avoiding bandwidth limitations associated with receiver elements.

  • Patent number: 9641202
Abstract: Various embodiments of carrier aggregation are provided that increase communications capacity and throughput. According to some embodiments, a transmitter is configured with a plurality of transmitter chains and, responsive to an aggregate bandwidth and/or frequency content of an overall signal that is to be transmitted by the transmitter, the overall signal is segmented into a plurality of components, each one of which comprises a bandwidth that is smaller than the bandwidth of the overall signal, and is thus transmitted by the plurality of transmitter chains of the transmitter. Accordingly, each component of the plurality of components of the overall signal is processed by a respective transmitter chain of the plurality of transmitter chains. Systems/methods of spatial multiplexing are also provided further increasing network capacity and throughput.

  • Publication number: 20160286532
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide reduced levels of interference to GPS receivers and/or to satellites. These embodiments allow frequencies that are proximate to GPS to be used by base stations and/or access points (such as femtocells) to provide forward and/or return link communications to user devices such as smartphones. Illustrative embodiments are provided wherein carriers of the 4G LTE standard (OFDM/OFDMA/SC-FDMA) are used by base stations and/or access points to provide wireless communications while reducing levels of interference to GPS and/or to satellites.

  • Patent number: 9392451
Abstract: Embodiments of inventive concepts are provided wherein a mobile device, such as a smartphone, may be configured to communicate with a base station, using a first mode, and to communicate with an access point using a second mode that comprises a level of security exceeding that of the first mode. The second mode communications between the mobile device and the access point are conducted over a short-range wireless link responsive to an identity of the mobile device and/or responsive to a biometric data being provided by a user of the mobile device. Such second mode wireless communications may include data relating to a financial transaction and/or other data that may require an increased level of privacy and/or security.

  • Patent number: 9332429
Abstract: A spectral content of a baseband waveform is varied and a measure of the baseband waveform whose spectral content has been varied is used by a transmitter in order to convey information. According to embodiments of inventive concepts, a set of frequencies that is used to provide spectral content to the baseband waveform is varied. In some embodiments, the spectral content comprises non-contiguous first and second frequency intervals wherein a third frequency interval that is between the first and second frequency intervals remains substantially devoid of providing spectral content in order to reduce or avoid interference. In other embodiments, the spectral content that is varied comprises a bandwidth that is varied. The inventive concepts are relevant to 4G LTE carrier aggregation systems/methods and/or other aspects of 4G LTE. Various transmitter/receiver embodiments are disclosed including direct synthesis transmitter/receiver embodiments.

  • Patent number: RE47408
Abstract: Systems and/or Methods are disclosed for acquiring data from a transceiver responsive to one or more signals that are received at the transceiver from one or more devices. In one embodiment, a transceiver is configured to transmit a signal responsive to having received a first signal from a first device, wherein the signal that is transmitted by the transceiver is configured to trigger a second device to transmit a second signal. The transceiver is further configured to transmit data responsive to having received the second signal that is transmitted by the second device. In other embodiments, a transceiver is configured to receive a signal from a first device over frequencies of a predetermined frequency band that the first device is authorized to use, to receive a signal from a second device over frequencies of the predetermined frequency band and to transmit data responsive to having received both the signal from the first device and the signal from the second device.
