  • Patent number: 4604297
Abstract: A method of controlling light transmission through a reflective/transmissive surface by first creating surface irregularities having an anti-glare effect and then applying an inert liquid coating sufficiently thick to remove at least some, but not all, of the anti-glare effect. The surface irregularities are created by applying a dispersion and allowing it to dry to form a coating that reduces reflected glare at the surface. The dispersion is a dispersion of polyvinyl acetate particulates and water or acrylic particulates and water; alternatively, the dispersion comprises a matte varnish comprising an aqueous dispersion of an acrylic resin, and an aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate.

  • Patent number: 4582761
Abstract: A dispersion for coating a reflective-transmissive surface comprising a mixture of an aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate resin and an aqueous dispersion of an arcylic resin. When applied to such surfaces--for example, the protective glass or plastic of an electronic screen--the coating reduces reflected glare while maintaining the quality of the image transmitted from the screen being viewed. Methods of making and using the dispersion, as well as surfaces treated with the dispersion, are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4466024
Abstract: A reliable, fast, easily operated system for enabling the use of both sides of existing single-sided floppy diskette units involving creation of new disk-positioning (DP) holes centered at a pre-set location, so that the new holes bear the same spacial relationship to the disk-access slot on one side of the unit the original DP holes do to the disk access slot on the other side of the unit; the system includes a DP punch comprising a plunger and plate spaced from and cooperating with the plunger, and a positioning matrix to center the DP punch plunger over the appropriate pre-set location; the positioning matrix comprises a flat top section and a flat bottom section, which are joined along a portion of their perimeters to define a slot of sufficient length, depth and width to receive said unit therebetween; one edge of the top section defines a notch adapted to receive the disk-positioning punch, and the slot and notch are located, sized and shaped so that when the unit and a punch are fully inserted into the
