  • Patent number: 8025223
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for enabling payment of transit system fees using a financial transaction instrument. Entry is permitted onto a transit system by recognition of information included in an identification number stored on a financial transaction instrument. The identification number stored on the financial transaction instrument is associated with a transit system fee registered for each use of the transit system. A plurality of transit system fees associated with the same identification number from use of the financial transaction instrument is aggregated, and payment for the aggregated transit system fees is requested from a transaction account associated with the financial transaction instrument.

  • Patent number: 8016201
Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, an authorized sample receiver (ASR) comprises a processor that is configured to verify biometric sample data in order to create registered biometric sample data. The ASR may also comprise a communications device configured to receive a transaction request from an RF transaction device, wherein the transaction request comprises transaction biometric sample data, a reload protocol update request, and an RF device identification code. The ASR may also be configured to authorize the transaction request in response to the transaction biometric sample data substantially matching the registered biometric sample data. The ASR may further comprise a reload protocol data file associated with the device identification code, and the reload protocol data file may be configured to be updated in accordance with the reload protocol update request.

  • Patent number: 8001054
Abstract: A random number generating algorithm is seeded with an unpredictable number. The seed value is computed by subjecting variable data to a Secure Hashing Algorithm, and truncating the right most, or left most, 16 bytes from the message digest generated. The algorithm generates the unpredictable number by using the seed value as a counter value in the random number generator, and performing a data encryption standard operation. In one exemplary embodiment, the unpredictable number is modified to a predetermined maximum unpredictable number value as determined by the sender and receiver of the unpredictable number.

  • Publication number: 20110191250
Abstract: A system and method for facilitating electronic transactions using an intelligent instrument is disclosed. An authorization server enables users to obtain authorization credentials through the use of the intelligent instrument by issuing a challenge to an intelligent token of the intelligent instrument. The intelligent token generates a challenge response and transmits the challenge response to the authorization server, which assembles credentials including a key for the electronic transaction upon validating the response. The authorization server sends the assembled credentials to the intelligent instrument and the intelligent instrument transmits the assembled credentials to the authorization server during a subsequent transaction. The authorization server validates the assembled credentials and provides authorization for the transaction in response to the validating the assembled credentials.

  • Patent number: 7889052
Abstract: A transponder-reader payment system includes a fob including a transponder, and a RFID reader for interrogating the transponder. The system may further include a payment device separate and distinct from the fob, but associated with payment account mutually shared with the fob. In exemplary operation, the fob identifying information, or the payment device information, may be presented to the RFID reader for completion of a transaction request. A process server may receive the transaction request and satisfy the transaction request in accordance with a predetermined payment criteria. The process server may additionally augment a rewards account based on fob or payment device usage, thereby incenting fob usage in one instance and payment device usage in the other.

  • Publication number: 20100325041
Abstract: A transaction device system is associated with a transaction device proxy account identifier, which may be stored in a database on the transaction device system. The proxy transaction device identifier may be stored on the database in any conventional merchant recognizable format. Additionally, the proxy transaction device identifier may be associated with a transaction account identifier for use in completing a transaction. The proxy transaction device identifier may include at least a first portion which corresponds to a portion of the transaction device identifier. The first portion of the proxy transaction device identifier may be segmented into proxy fields where a first segment includes a portion of a transaction account data set, and a second segment has encoded therein an account provider desired information. The proxy account identifier segments are undetectable by receiving systems such that the proxy account identifier emulates a merchant recognizable data transfer format.
