Patent number: 10594873Abstract: In a method of payment for service of a portable communication unit, a customer prepays a dealer for said service, the dealer forwards transaction order information about the pre-payment to a prepaid management center (PMC); and the PMC provides a bank the transaction order information. The bank, upon receipt of the transaction order information from the PMC, determines whether there are sufficient funds in the dealer account to cover the transaction. If there is insufficient cash on hand, the dealer is notified and is provided an opportunity to replenish the account so that the transaction may proceed. If there are adequate funds in the dealer account, the bank automatically transfers the amount of the purchase transaction in the SPS account, less the dealer's fee for the purchase. After funds are transferred from the dealer account, the PMC is notified of the transfer, at which time the PMC generates codes and issues the codes to the dealer.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 2019Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: Precis Group LLCInventors: Peter D. Wendt, Daniel S. Karvonen

Patent number: 7602936Abstract: A method and/or apparatus for embedding and detecting watermarks in a set of data frames, where a secondary domain is used for combining the data frame, watermark, and a geometric pattern for holding the watermark, and that secondary domain is used for post-combination filtering of the modified data frame. The secondary domain is preferably a wavelet domain or sub-band domain. The geometric pattern for holding the watermark is reversibly mapable between a complex pattern in the original domain of the data frame and a simple pattern in the secondary domain where combination and filtering takes place.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2004Date of Patent: October 13, 2009Assignees: Sony Corporation, Sony Electronics Inc.Inventor: Peter D. Publication number: 20080285796Abstract: A method and/or apparatus for embedding and detecting a watermark among a plurality of frames of data is disclosed, where the watermark is correlated with a plurality of noise blocks, and the noise blocks are summed over a plurality of respective video frames. Each noise block is preferably subjected to a fade function with another noise block over the plurality of respective video frames to make the embedded watermark resistant to changes in data frame rate or other temporal distortions in the frames of data. Detection and recovery of such an embedded watermark and its fade function is also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2008Publication date: November 20, 2008Applicants: Sony Electronics, Inc., Sony CorporationInventor: Peter D. Patent number: 7317811Abstract: A system and method for efficient recovery of watermarks from compressed video is disclosed, wherein, in one embodiment, cyclic watermark noise blocks are tiled and embedded in a plurality of frames of compressed video, quantized coefficients are computed for a group of compressed video frames on a pixel-by-pixel basis, the scaled coefficients for the group of compressed video frames are summed into an output transform frame, and the entire summed output transform frame is transformed to recover peak values for the group of compressed video frames to recover the watermark. Additionally, zero band normalization and edge filtering are also provided to increase the accuracy and efficiency of recovering watermarks from video frames.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2004Date of Patent: January 8, 2008Assignee: Sony Electronics Inc.Inventor: Peter D. Patent number: 6865273Abstract: A method and/or apparatus for detecting a watermark in a two-dimensional frame of data, the frame of data including a plurality of data values representing the watermark embedded in a frame of content data, the method comprising: computing a filtered frame of data from the frame of data having at least some harmonic frequency components corresponding to the watermark that are emphasized as compared to at least some frequency components corresponding to the content data; computing a two-dimensional Fourier transform of the filtered frame of data to produce a two-dimensional frequency spectrum of the filtered frame of data; selecting a set of frequency components associated with the watermark from among the frequency components of the two-dimensional frequency spectrum; and computing at least one of a rotation value, a resizing value, and a translation value associated with the watermark as compared to a reference watermark using one or more of the frequency components of the selected set.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2002Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignees: Sony Corporation, Sony Electronics Inc.Inventor: Peter D.
