  • Publication number: 20100308541
Abstract: The invention relates to a strip sealing gate (1) for sealing a first chamber (2) with a first pressure level (p1) in relation to a second chamber (3) with a second pressure level (p2) that differs from the first, a strip (4), in particular a metal strip, passing through both chambers (2, 3). According to the invention, at least two rollers (5, 6) are provided for sealing the chambers (2, 3), said rollers resting in a sealing manner on either side of the strip (4). The aim of the invention is to improve the sealing action. To achieve this, at least some sections of the circumference of at least one of the rollers (5, 6) are covered with a flexible elastic material (7) and said roller or rollers (5, 6) have an inner core (8) that is covered with a jacket consisting of the flexible elastic material (7). • Publication number: 20100192849
Abstract: The invention relates to a hot-dip coating installation for coating a strip with a liquid metal. A roller formed as a hollow body is provided in the liquid metal for deflecting or stabilizing the strip. The roller is mounted in a bearing on a carrier arm of the hot-dip coating installation by means of a roller journal. The object of the invention is to reduce the rotational resistance, the inertia moment and the slip tendency of the roll in relation to the strip. To this end, the interior of the roller is sealed against the liquid metal and a channel is provided for connecting the interior of the roller to the space region on the periphery of the roll journal. In this way, an excess pressure inside the roller and, therefore, and undesirable deformation of the roller are prevented.

  • Patent number: 7762377
Abstract: A transfer car in a conveyance system for metal coils, having a support saddle, a chassis that can be moved along a conveyance path by a drive and a mechanism for raising and lowering the support saddle along a linear vertical guide on a plate-like base frame. A steel slab is used as the plate-like base frame, on which a scissor unit is mounted for the purpose of linear vertical guidance and so as to not take on any lifting forces. Two lifting cylinders are installed some distance apart as the drive and act directly on the support saddle to provide the sole lifting forces to raise and lower the support saddle.

  • Publication number: 20100098370
Abstract: Roller bearing (100) for mounting a roller journal (210) of a roller (200) in a roller arm (300) of a hot dip coating installation, wherein the roller (200) can be dipped into a metal bath (400) with the aid of the roller arm and is used therein for guiding a strip (500) running through the metal bath. In order to improve known roller bearings for hot dip coating installations to the extent that the bearing arrangement is not adversely affected by a skewed positioning of the roller arm, it is proposed according to the invention to configure the roller bearing cardanically.

  • Publication number: 20100015347
Abstract: 2.1 The present invention pertains to a hot-dip coating device 100 for coating a metal strip with a molten metal 200. The metal strip is deflected in the molten metal 200 with the aid of a roll 120. The roll is rotatably supported in a support arm 105 by means of a bearing 144. The bearing is installed in a bearing chamber 142. In order to seal the bearing chamber 142 against an undesirable admission of the molten metal 200, a lock is arranged between the bearing chamber 142 and a roll passage 136 toward the molten metal 200 and acted upon with a gaseous medium under a gas pressure in order to seal the lock chamber 132 relative to the molten metal 200. 2.2 In order to lower the maintenance expenditures for the lock, the invention proposes to realize the lock chamber 132 in the form of a diving bell with a channel-shaped outlet 134 that is open relative to the surrounding molten metal 200.
