    Abstract: A device and method for detecting, diagnosing, and or monitoring alcoholism and related disease states is disclosed. The device includes a substrate and one or more alcoholism-specific nucleic acids attached to the substrate. The substrate is contacted by a sample collected from a person with alcoholism or alcohol abuse or an alcohol related disease state, wherein contact occurs under pre-selected binding conditions that provides information that can be collected and recorded by a computer.
