    Abstract: Positioning arms for positioning and assembling systems are subjected to high accelerations and must therefore be made lightweight but nevertheless resistant to bending and twisting. The use of composite materials based on metal or ceramic foams and non-expanded materials for positioning arms in positioning and assembling systems allows these positioning arms to be lightweight and nevertheless to have high rigidity. Semifinished products are arranged in the non-expanded material, since a better connection between the semifinished product and material is ensured there than in the metal or ceramic foam.

    Abstract: A gas supply for feeding at least two components of a combustion mixture to a combustion chamber has gas dosing cylinders (16, 19) respectively for oxygen and fuel of which the gas filling pressures are controllable or adjustable by a pressure regulator (15) and a throttle valve (18) respectively. The mixture ratio of the gases can thus be changed between each filling of the dosing devices by control of the setting motor (35) of the pressure regulator. This setting can also change the filling pressure in the combustion chamber (10). The length of the piston stroke in the dosing cylinders can also be controlled.

    Abstract: An elongated housing 10 has a positioning rod 13 located therein, slidable with respect to the housing. A guide rod 14 slides parallel to the positioning rod. The guide rod and the positioning rod are coupled together by end elements 38, 39. The housing 10 is formed with recesses or bores 11, 12 for the positioning rods 13, 14 and additionally is formed with bores to transfer energy at power level for subsequent positioning or operating units, as well as to permit transfer of control signals. The positioning rod can be operated by fluid pressure by coupling a piston, slidable within its operating space and forming a cylinder, or by an electrical rack-and-pinion or worm screw drive. The unit is compact and closed towards the outside, suitable for modular association with similar or other units, and devoid of external flexible hoses or cables interfering with access thereto.
