  • Patent number: 6070514
Abstract: The present invention discloses a brake force booster for automotive vehicles having a control valve which is operable independently of an actuating rod displacing a valve piston, by way of an electromagnet which actuates a third sealing seat. Displacement of the sealing seat in opposition to the actuating direction of the brake force booster permits ventilating the working chamber. To eliminate all pneumatically induced force components in an independent activation, according to the present invention, a permanent pneumatic connection is provided between a pneumatic chamber delimited in the control housing by the valve member and the vacuum chamber, and in that both a second sealing seat which is provided on the valve piston and used to ventilate the working chamber, the third sealing seat, and the valve member in its sealing lip delimiting the pneumatic chamber in the control housing have almost identical diameters.

  • Patent number: 5605088
Abstract: A vacuum brake power booster for automotive vehicles includes a booster housing whose interior is subdivided into a vacuum chamber and a working chamber by a moveable wall. A control housing carries the moveable wall and accommodates a control valve which controls a pressure differential acting upon the moveable wall. The control valve has at least two sealing seats cooperating with an elastic valve member and is operable by an actuating rod. One of the sealing seats is operable, irrespective of the actuating rod, by an electromagnet whose armature is in force-transmitting interaction with one of the sealing seats. An electrical switching apparatus is also included, the control signals of which influence the current supply of the electromagnet thereby enabling its deactivation. The switching apparatus are operable by a relative movement between a valve piston and the control housing.

  • Patent number: 5472264
Abstract: A brake unit for automotive vehicles with electric drive is configured in the shape of a multiple-circuit compound system consisting of hydraulic friction brakes of brake circuits (I, I', I", III, III', III") and of an electroregenerative brake system (circuit II, II', II"). In a vehicle with a driven and a non-driven axle, three brake circuits exist, one brake circuit of which (I, I', I") is comprised of a pedal-actuated hydraulic brake pressure master unit (2) and of friction brakes (3, 4) acting upon the non-driven wheels. The second brake circuit (II, II', II") which represents an electroregenerative brake system is directly or indirectly coupled to the brake pedal and acts upon the driven wheels. The third brake circuit (III, III', III") which is comprised of friction brakes (10, 11) also acts upon the driven wheels. The actuation of the wheel brakes (10, 11) is connected to the second and third brake circuits.

  • Patent number: 5460074
Abstract: A vacuum brake power booster for automotive vehicles having control valve which is operable, irrespective of an actuating rod displacing a valve piston (9), by an electromagnet which actuates a third sealing seat thereby ventilating the working chamber. To minimize the independent actuating force generated by the electromagnet the electromagnet, of the present invention, is rigidly connected to the valve piston, and is arranged to be slidable in the control housing so that the third sealing seat is synchronously movable with the valve piston.

  • Patent number: 5429425
Abstract: An independent wheel brake unit for an automotive vehicle is furnished with a hydraulic wheel brake (12), a hydraulic pump (2), an accumulator (6) and electrically actuated valves (9, 10, 11) for controlling the brake pressure. The hydraulic pump generates the actuating pressure required for actuating the wheel brake (12) by receiving the kinetic energy of the vehicle through the vehicle wheel. Because the wheel brake unit supplies itself with energy, fuel is saved and the complexity of the electrical wiring system of the automotive vehicle is reduced. All essential components of the unit together with the steering knuckle (16) of the automotive vehicle can be pre-assembled and mounted on the vehicle, as a unit, preferably in an automatic manner, by a robot, thereby substantially reducing the final-assembly costs.

  • Patent number: 4693341
Abstract: A disc brake for use in automotive vehicles is disclosed including a hydraulic brake actuating and a mechanical brake actuating device comprising a thrust member for axially operating a hydraulic piston in response to manual rotation of an actuating shaft in a bore in the brake housing. The shaft is axially retained in the bore by an eccentrically positioned recess in the shaft and projection on the bore extending over only a portion of the shaft circumference and bore.
