  • Patent number: 5001904
Abstract: In an absorption refrigerating apparatus (18) operated by a fuel in gas or liquid state the condenser (50) is cooled by an air flow generated by a fan (82). The fan is driven by a heat operated motor consisting of an endless wire loop formed (84) of a shape memory alloy which gets its operating heat from the exhaust gas from the fuel.

  • Patent number: 4691529
Abstract: A refrigerator is provided with a freezing chamber (16) which is cooled by the evaporator (24) of an absorption refrigerating apparatus. A machine (44) for automatic making and emitting of pieces (46) of ice is located in the freezing chamber (16). The machine (44) is cooled by the evaporator (36) of a compression refrigerating apparatus. When the machine (44) has produced the pieces (46) of ice, the evaporator (24) of the absorption refrigerating apparatus (22) keeps the pieces of ice frozen.

  • Patent number: 4656837
Abstract: A safety arrangement in a gas-operated apparatus, such as an absorption refrigerator, having a safety device that controls the gas system and, when required, automatically re-ignites the flame of the gas burner that has become extinguished. The system has a thermostat that is connected to a switch for opening a gas valve when it is necessary to supply gas to the burner. A filament or igniter is also provided which is arranged adjacent to the burner and has a switch which breaks the circuit to the gas valve when a sensor or flame detector at the burner is exposed to a flame.

  • Patent number: 4375750
Abstract: In a refrigerator cabinet operated with an absorption refrigerating apparatus having an evaporator for cooling a refrigerating chamber and an evaporator for cooling a freezing chamber. The refrigerator condensate is supplied to the freezing evaporator and partly evaporated, while the residue flows by gravity into the refrigerating evaporator. At very low ambient temperature the freezing evaporator receives too little refrigerant, or else the refrigerating evaporator too much. This situation is avoided in that an evaporator part for cooling of the freezing chamber is supplied with refrigerant condensate at short intervals during periods when the thermostat for the refrigerating chamber is in an off position.

  • Patent number: 4362029
Abstract: A single-pipe boiler construction in an absorption refrigerating apparatus which operates with inert gas, an absorption solution that is rich in refrigerant. The latter is lifted in a central pump pipe in which vapor is expelled and the weak solution thus formed flows downwardly in an outer pipe. At least one heat source is arranged in heat-conductive contact with the outside of the outer pipe and heat from the heat source is conducted through the weak solution in the outer pipe to the pump pipe and its contents. Heat is supplied directly by conduction to the outer pipe and a direct heat-conductive connection is arranged between the outer pipe and the pump pipe.

  • Patent number: 4286569
Abstract: An external intake-discharge duct for a burner-operated refrigerator having a sealed system. The intake communicates with the atmosphere outside of a trailer or a motor home and is located in a service door for the burner of a refrigerating apparatus. Atmospheric air is conducted downward through the air intake to the burner, and hot combustion gases are conducted upwards through a flue pipe and out through a discharge or outlet. The duct terminates in a cap-like structure located externally in a wall of a trailer or motor home.

  • Patent number: 4253311
Abstract: In a mobile absorption refrigeration system wherein the refrigerator has at least one electric heater and a gas burner, the refrigeration system is connected to a vehicle by way of a separable plug assembly which includes one circuit for supplying electric power to the heater, and a control arrangement disabling the gas heater as long as the electric power source of a towing vehicle is connected to the refrigeration system.

  • Patent number: 4242879
Abstract: An absorption refrigeration system has an electric heater connectable to an electric power source, and a gas burner connectable to a gas supply. A voltage responsive circuit is connected to disable the gas burner circuit when the voltage of an electric supply means is above a determined level, and to disable the electric heating circuit and enable the gas heating burner when the voltage is below the determined value.

  • Patent number: 4236380
Abstract: An automatic control system for an absorption refrigerator in a vehicle, such as a recreational vehicle, which is connected to a motor-driven generator. The refrigerator is operated alternatively by either 110 A.C. voltage, 12 volt D.C. voltage, or by gas. If gas is only available, the refrigerator is automatically operated by that means, however, the ignition of the gas burner is prevented when the vehicle is stopped in a filling station and the generator ceases to operate. The arrangement has means which delays the closing of a circuit through a control system after another circuit, including a heating cartridge, has been interrupted.

  • Patent number: 4151727
Abstract: An ice cube freezing arrangement in an absorption type refrigerator having conduit means conducting hot vapors from a vapor conduit leading from the boiler system to the ice dividing walls and tray for ice cubes. The vapor conduit is normally blocked but opened occasionally in order to release the ice cubes from its tray.

  • Patent number: 4147039
Abstract: An ice cube freezing arrangement in an absorption type refrigerator having conduit means conducting hot vapors from a vapor conduit leading from the boiler system to the ice dividing walls and tray for ice cubes. The vapor conduit is normally blocked but opened occasionally in order to release the ice cubes from the tray. Thus, ice cubes are manufactured with relatively small energy consumption. The control system for ice freezing is completely internal in the refrigerator, which controls the ice making, ice releasing, and the water supply to the ice making device.
