  • Patent number: 7360776
Abstract: A stabilizing apparatus and method that replaces the existing shock absorber of a road vehicle that works to resist the initiation of body roll during cornering. It seeks to counter act the forces being generated by the vehicle suspension springs that exacerbate the rollover propensity of vehicles during certain steering maneuvers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 19, 2004
Date of Patent: April 22, 2008
    Assignee: Amtech Corporation
    Inventor: Peter E. Bryant
  • Patent number: 7249776
Abstract: A suspension and method applies the unsprung weight of the wheels and axles to reduce the motion of the sprung weight of chassis. The suspension has a load bolster supporting the sprung weight at a ride height and a rebound member between the wheel axle support and the chassis. The rebound member is to exert increasing force with motion of the sprung weight away from the axle but the member reduces its force on the load bolster during jounce.

  • Publication number: 20040173986
Abstract: A suspension system for chassis and/or body sprung weight and a plurality of wheel axle supports to carry a portion of the unsprung weight. The system has a load spring between the chassis and/or body and wheel axle support preloaded to a ride height. A member between the wheel axle support and the chassis and/or body exerts increasing force with motion of the unsprung weight relative to the chassis and/or body. The member has increasingly less force on the load spring during jounce beyond the ride height as the member resists the motion of unsprung weight. The member free length of travel cooperates with the load spring jounce deflection so the travel and the deflection overlap as the member moves. The member is a coil, tension or air spring in tension or compression. The load spring constant K carries sprung weight and the member constant KTresists the rebound motion of the sprung weight so K to KT is a function of the amount of roll resistance.

  • Patent number: 6761372
Abstract: A suspension and method applies the unsprung weight of the wheels and axles to reduce the motion of the sprung weight of chassis. The suspension has a load bolster supporting the sprung weight at a ride height and a rebound member between the sheel axle support and the chassis. The rebound member is to exert increasing force with motion of the sprung weight away from the axle but the member reduces its force on the load bolster during jounce.

  • Publication number: 20030080527
Abstract: A suspension system for chassis and/or body sprung weight and a plurality of wheel axle supports to carry a portion of the unsprung weight. The system has a load leaf spring between the chassis and/or body and wheel axle support preloaded to a ride height. A rebound member between the wheel axle support and the chassis and/or body exerts increasing force with motion of the unsprung weight relative to the chassis and/or body. The rebound member has increasingly less force on the load spring during jounce beyond the ride height as the member resists the motion of unsprung weight. The rebound member free length of travel cooperates with the load spring jounce deflection so the travel and the deflection overlap as the member moves.

  • Publication number: 20020125676
Abstract: A suspension and method for using unsprung weight of the wheels and axles to assist in reducing the motion of the sprung weight of chassis and/or body. The suspension has a load spring supporting the sprung weight at a ride height and another spring between the wheel axle support and the chassis and/or body that exerts increasing force with motion of the sprung weight away from the axle and reducing its force on the load spring during jounce as the member resists the motion of sprung weight.

  • Patent number: 4662138
Abstract: Panel joining means that include a pair of identical elongated edge connectors secured along one edge of each panel to be joined and a bridge for attachment between the connectors. The edge connectors are cut from a single extrusion, are positioned to face each other, and are dimensioned so they can be secured to the panel before the finish lamina is applied by rollers or presses. The bridge is an extrusion that is symmetrical in cross section. It has continuous flanges along each side that register with complementary flanges on the connectors to complete positioning of the panels for joining. Changing configuration of only the bridge web will change the angle between adjoining panels.

  • Patent number: 4350459
Abstract: There is disclosed an elongated extruded beam having three parallel channels including a center channel and two side channels facing outwardly at a right angle to the center channel. The sidewalls of the center channel form the bases of the side channels, and the inside width of the center channel is greater than the thickness of the beam. There is also provided a separate clip having a base and a rectangular leg normal thereto, both the base and rectangular leg are of width to be received in all channels and the leg is of length to extend above the channel sidewalls. If desired, one of the outward facing channels may be omitted from the beam.
