  • Patent number: 5132015
Abstract: An ultrafiltration system with a recirculating closed loop design and a feed control valve outside the loop which admits feed to the loop under permeate level control was shown to be operable with a constant recirculation flow thus minimizing membrane fouling. A fast flush was also possible without closing the permeate valve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 4, 1990
Date of Patent: July 21, 1992
    Assignee: Rohm and Haas Company
    Inventor: Peter E. Down
  • Patent number: 4388417
Abstract: A method for regenerating the exhausted anion and cation exchange resins in a mixed bed demineralizer which utilizes an inert material of a specific density intermediate to the specific densities of the anion and cation resins. The inert resin remains in the regeneration system and is not returned to the service vessel with the regenerated resin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 1981
Date of Patent: June 14, 1983
    Assignee: Ecodyne Corporation
Inventors: Peter E. Down, Eli Salem
  • Patent number: 4379855
Abstract: A stratified bed of ion exchange resins is regenerated by countercurrent or upflow regeneration. Expansion of the bed is prevented by returning used regenerant solution to the top of the bed and pumping the returned regenerant solution downwardly through the layer of resin at the top of the bed. Recycling of the used regenerant solution also regenerates the upper layer of resin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 1, 1981
Date of Patent: April 12, 1983
    Assignee: Ecodyne Corporation
Inventors: Peter E. Down, Walter J. Tomlinson, Jr.
